Greasemonkey: Addons for Wowhead
Post Reply

Post by
Corgan
Just thought I would alert any new Wowhead users, and remind the old veterans, about my previous collection of
Greasemonkey
scripts made for Wowhead. But first, a quick refresher to what Greasemonkey is and how to get started with it.
Greasemonkey
is a
Firefox
add-on, allowing anyone to create customized scripts (written in Javascript) for certain pages, or even an entire website.
Installing and Using Greasemonkey
You can download Greasemonkey
here
. Once you have it installed, a small monkey icon should show up in the bottom right corner of your screen. By right-clicking it, you'll be able to create new scripts or manage current ones. Depending on the script, you'll either install them directly from an URL or have to modify them first.
For a few examples and more information, as well as a
lot
of user scripts, you can go to
UserScripts.org
.
Greasemonkey scripts for Wowhead
I've written quite a few scripts for Wowhead, to show you the different possibilities and huge potential of such a script. I would love to hear suggestions and/or ideas that you have.
Scripts I have written
Gear Profiler
: Armory import of your character on Wowhead. (

)
Raw Materials
: Adds a Raw Materials tab to craft pages. (
Screenshot
)
Wowhead Favorites
: Add your own favorites on Wowhead! Automatically sorted by page types. (
Screenshot
)
Wowhead Quick Facts Collapser
: Collapses the Quick Facts box by default.
Temporarily Broken.
Wowhead Armory Mirror
: Displays Armory information in a non-bloated page.
Scripts written by others
Wowhead Cross-website Tooltips
:
Wowhead's Power
for the entire internet! (Written by
Lukian
)
Wowhead WOTLK Skin
: Skins Wowhead for a more Icy look. (Written by
tecnobrat
)
"View in 3D" and "Get Link" buttons
: Adds "View in 3D" and "Get Link" buttons to all tables (Written by
PoeticDragon
)
Armory Import
: Imports an character's gear from the armory into the Wowhead Comparison Tool. (Written by
chezandre
)
Coding your own!
If after seeing the infinite possibilities of Greasemonkey, you want to code your own scripts,
you can
. It only requires some JavaScript knowledge, and nothing more. There is a lot of documentation on the net, and I'm always on
IRC
if you ever need any help.
Don't know JavaScript, but have some ideas?
Post them in this thread and I (or someone else) might pick up the idea and code it for you!
Questions/Suggestions/Anything is more than welcome.

Thanks for the repost (well bump and clear out technically) i had to use google to find this post the other day.
Just a thought, you could make this make skins or perhaps a skinner tool which was easily modifiable by more design orientated people.
~edit~ wow looking forward to WIP ^^.
I've made one skin (which is linked above). I have a couple others planned. Maybe a Molton Core theme, and a "work friendly" one (not black, etc).

just wanted to add that I created a simple Greasemonkey script that adds the Powered by Wowhead link to any page on the web, by default it includes:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html
*
http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html
*
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/16762
Add additional pages via the Manage User Scripts dialog.

My Armory Mirror is released for now. It's most likely a bit buggy. You can get it
here
.
Report any bugs/suggestions. Thanks.

I am so glad I stumbled across this thread, I am currently using all of these now except for the WoWEquip one, don't know enough about this kind of stuff to know how to edit the two lines. Thank you to all who contribute, and a special thanks to Corgan, love this stuff :)

Corgan, I made this script:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23517
It is an item wishlist, since it's not implemented here yet. (

I know javascript, but since I'm new at these scripts, I had to take a lot of help about how stuff works from your scripts *hides in bushes*

Hey, I've made a script too now! :D
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23643
(Screenshot)
This script lets you add weight to different item properties, like say if you set 1 point of stamina to be worth 5 points and an item has +28 stamina, the item would be worth at least...uh...140 points, according to my insane math skills.
Notes:
* The menu to change weights is found next to the "Filter" link.
* "Matches" are what the strings look like in the mashed-up tooltip, blank means it's same as name.
* Make sure you use numbers for weights and please note that the matches are often kinda weird cause I suck at regexps :p , try mimicing the default ones like having a space at the end etc :<
To-do: Get points to show in item list table and not only in tooltips!
Please note that I've only had greasemonkey for like 2 days so I don't really know how good the coding is but it works great for me in both FF2 and FF3. If you stumble upon a bug, please tell me either like here or on IRC or smth, nick on irc is hbfs.
P.s. Thanks for the help, Corgan!
