Perhaps an amount of time the verification is saved to your session? I don't think removing it completely would be totally necessary with the saving.
I imagine you have flood protection built in that would save you from people verifying and then flooding, right? :)

That's an awesome suggestion. Once "captchaed" a user would be good for X minutes and wouldn't need to enter it again for the duration.

have your verification "time limit" be directly related to your poster rating?
ie: make good posts and you don't have to verify as often. make bad posts and you have to verify every single post. make enough bad posts and you can get temporary locks (like the blizzard forums where you can only post so many times in set amount of time)

Or based on reputation.... 5k rep = no captcha, 4k rep = captcha after 20 min, etc.

Yah, thats what I meant since there is no poster rating currently. I was mistaken in assuming that the reputation was also tied to forum posts and not just comments.
