You will be attacked by at least 2 waves of gorillas at level 41+ so get someone to cover your back if your at level 42 like me!

just got through with this and it's a @#$%^

he is a 43 regular mob but he brings hordes of othe gorrila's with him which makes it hell to beat him unless you have one perosn concentrating on him by the time we got to Mokk we had a group of five

He has to be summoned from some shaman on the quest "Strangelthorn Fever"

The Shaman dude is in the Spirit Den, NE of Booty Bay. If you don't have the Spirit Den on the map, then you haven't discovered it yet. The Shaman then asks you for 10 Gorilla fangs in order to summon a couple of waves of Gorilla's (including Mokk). So if you are doing "Scaring Shaky," then don't throw away the fangs that drop; save it for ST Fever. Other than that, they are complete vendor trash. I finished this quest with a group of 3. me, 45 hunter, a 41 druid and anotehr 41 hunter. Concentrate on Mokk, loot his heart, then it won't matter if you die. Happy Hunting :)

FWIW, Mokk himself is not tameable -- while waiting to trigger this quest, I watched another group finish it up, and used Beast Lore on Mokk.

This is a killer hard quest. I was trying to get it done with just myself (44 hunter) and a 41 mage; we wiped badly twice on the third group of gorillas to come in. Added another 39 hunter and a 42 Warrior, made it through without too much grief, although the warrior died.

yah, he's not tamable, but there is a rare tamable level 53 gorilla in Un'goro Crater named Uhk'loc with the exact same skin as Mokk. Uhk'loc also comes with Bite (Rank 7) when tamed.

I tried to solo this as a 45 hunter. Got through the first batch of gorillas then promptly died. Bring a group. Or a high level friend. It's not that any of them are tough on their own, it's the amount of damage the collectively do as they smack your head off your shoulders.

wasnt that hard. you just have to kill the first mob, and then kill mokk in the 2nd mob.

i'm a 42 hunter, went in with a 45 warrior.

we killed him, grabbed the heart and ran.
left the rest of his mob looking confused. :D

Mokk the Savage is not Hunter tameable.

If you want that fancy blue gorilla skin, the rare gorilla in Un'goro Crater is the one to get... Uhk'loc, I believe...

Ok, so I've recently made a discovery how to solo this encounter as a lvl 42 shadowpriest.
First of all, before doing this for real, make sure to find the spots where you can easily climb the cave without getting stuck (see steps below for instructions):

First of all, be sure to be at 100% health and mana before starting the encounter.
Turn in the gorilla fangs to start the encounter
Run outside the cave and take a left
Jump up on the rock that is kind of like surrounded by 3 other, standing rocks
Jump to the "wedge" closest to the lip of the cave
Now you will be able to further jump upwards and keep climbing to the top of the cave
When at the top of the cave, tag one of the incoming mobs and burst it down as fast as you can (this will aggro the rest of the mobs automatically)
When the mobs reach the top of the cliff, jump down to gain more time and keep doing damage
When you have sucessfully killed one mob, go back to the wedge you started at (step 4+5)
The mobs will come to a halt as this is a place where they cannot reach you (safe zone).
Try to stay as far out on the safe zone as you can to prevent them from passing you and killing the shaman.
You will soon exit combat and be able to sit and eat/drink. Make sure to do this as soon as you exit combat as the mobs will start trying to attack you once again.
Repeat step 6-11 until you've successfully finished the encounter

During the last wave (with Mokk) I focused Mokk down and then went to the safe zone. The mobs eventually ignored me completely and kept running on to kill the shaman.

I have not tested this as any other class, but I'd reckon that it should work for any ranged class.

If you play a melee class you should probably aim to separate the target you want to burst down from the rest of the pack by slow or stun effects while kiting the others to the top of the cave with help from the safe zone and then jumping down to burst the slowed target down.
