That being said they are a gorgeous set of shoulders and for a rogue that never got the chance at bloodfang spaulder - the nicest looking shoulders in the game...They certainly are a treat.

Pretty disappointing compared to a blue you can wear at level 66 https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=27434 .

Assuming equal quality gems and matching gem/socket colors, you get:

Mantle of Perenolde (2x red +16 AP gem)
hit rating: 23
critical strike rating: 23
attack power: 52

Bladed Shoulderpads of the Merciless
hit rating: 13 (socket bonus included)
critical strike rating: 18
attack power: 54
+ two yellow/orange/green gems, which give you 2x +8 hit or crit if you go for yellow ones.

So combined hit+crit and AP would be like:
Mantle of Perenolde
hit+crit: 46
AP: 52

Bladed Shoulderpads of the Merciless
hit+crit: 47 (socket bonus included)

These shoulders are just the best. I try to stay above 10% hit, just to ensure I don't start gimping myself on AP and crit, but you can get so much hit out of these it's fantastic.

On top of that, our tier 4 shoulders are dire, so these really are the best we can get before tier 5.

This chest is part of a "set" of items that have no connection to each other other than that they all share the same design style and color. Its basicly a reworking of the tier2 set, but now in brown and white.

I think its such a cool looking "set" that I would probably wear it around town despite having stuff that is better like the Tier4.

These are actually the best feral tanking shoulders before T4. While the armor is not green, it is more armor than most of the green ones give (see the PvP armor). Especially considering +hit is rare on high armor items.

Availability of good plate shoulders is rather scarce for Fury warriors. This is a great pair of shoulders for any fury warriors.

I received them after our 2 main rogues got their's 1st. I can't foresee replacing this for a long time, only perhaps with Ripfiend off Kazzak.

Wearing this as an Enhance Shaman, much better than the Mail sholders from Opera, and the best so far for a guild that hasn't managed to scrounge up the numbers for Maulgar.

Added in two +8 Hit Gems, and the only upgrade I see is Pauldrons of Primal Fury from Nalorakk in Zul'Aman (Again for a non-25 man guild).

Now, I did some number crunching a bit an came up with this question; should one use these shoulders instead of the Netherblade Shoulderpads (T4)?

Assuming these are not enchanted from Scryer/Aldor enchantments:

BSotM: Both sockets contain +8 HR gems
300 HP
58 AP
~2% Hit (.7% more than NbS)
~1% Crit (.3% more than NbS)

NbS: Sockets: 8 agi/ 8 HR
380 HP (80 HP more than BSotM)
80 AP (22 AP more than BSotM)
~1.3% Hit
~7% Crit

So, considering a PvE setting of course, which would be more useful? Personally, I'd use the BSotM for the greater HR and CR. 22 AP and 80 HP isn't going to be missed much in my opinion.

If you're looking for these for transmogrification, there are also Forest Wind Shoulderpads which have the same look and drop off of The Curator, also in Karazhan. So you have two chances at this shoulder graphic if you do a full clear.

Absolutely awesome shoulders, looks and stats. A couple jagged talasites make them very well rounded pvp shoulders, or some pure crit/hit stones for pve.

Got these for my 70 warrior a couple months ago. I got two 8 hit rating gems in them which gives me the socket bonus of 3 hit rating. 32 hit rating from just shoulders, not bad. :D

Well these dropped for me in Karazhan and being the only Rogue in the raid I assumed they were as good as mine. However, to my horror, a Druid rolled and beat me.

My question is, should my guild have intervened and given them to me or was it fair to let the druid have them? I think the former however I am obviously biased which is why I have come here to seek your expert opinions :P.

Got these a few nights ago on my rogue. theyre nice and i look cool as hell.

as for the event itself you need to burn down the clerics (respective opposites if youre alliance... the orc casters) then focus on the king. what worked for us is leaving a few grunts near our healers to protect them. the king has a lot of hp so healers have no trouble healing him through attack from 1-3 people just try to take out the healers and mage people first. YES, the event is soloable and can be stealthed to by a drood or rogue. personally i think a feral druid or a rogue have the right to equally roll on this. The chess event is easy to get to, you may go through the back entrance to karazhan, down the curator and go directly to the chess event from there. if you would like to see a full map and helpful tips on bosses you can go to wowwiki.com,

Edit: as far as sockets go if youre hard core pve then go for the set bonus with gems with + hit and crit if you want these for pvping in socketing htem with AP is the way to go. +3 hit isnt that godly of a bonus, socket as you please

First, these are probably better for a rogue than a druid. I am a feral druid and this piece is a modest upgrade over high end blues. Absent a Rogue I would take them. We have a fury warrior who sometimes takes leather when I pass on it. I can't take his plate why should he take my leather.

Second, to the poster who said why would you let ferals dps in a raid, please get a grip. Everyone knows ferals are a viable dps class post BC. My group runs Kara in one night downing all bosses on the first try and I routinely am one of the top dpsers when in dps mode. This even in an instance where bleed effects are mostly useless - goodbye rip.

Please stop posting comments when you have no clue.

both Yellow and they add stats that are greater then regular blue gems and they are both yellow so u can get the 3 hit. I figured it was better then anything else becuse of its well balanced stats, wat do you think?

Non-leather classes who want to roll on this item should be kicked from their guilds and their characters deleted.

DW Warriors: You've got three armor types to choose from when gearing your character. You have your own set of DPS gear that is plate, a HUNTER/SHAMAN set to choose from, and a rogue/druid set to choose from when we're not around. And let's not kid ourselves. No DW Warrior will ever equal another DPS class who is at the very least can auto-attack or auto-shot. Take this if no one else is there but don't be greedy pigs who just wish they'd rolled a REAL dps class.

Hunters: Hunters need hit for dual-wielding? Are you insane? Are you going to start rolling on Spiteblade because you have to melee? Stop being the greedy #$%^&s who need to roll on every single piece of gear in this game and grow-up. You're not the end-all. Same rule applies about multiple armor sets. Do you see any melee cloth for rogues to roll on? No. I know your ranged attacks need +hit but honestly, I have over 12% plus to hit and I still miss. Rogues need all the +hit they can get.

Enh. Shamans: Lawl. Don't get me started. You don't have any special attacks, except Stormstrike... and that's really meant to buff rogue poisons anyway. What does it matter to you if one of your regular swings gets dodged? Not a damn thing. It means a whole lot more to me if my Eviscerate is dodged. Your special damage attacks are magical! What the hell do you need +hit for?

Feral Druids: Can take this... but strength and attack power mean alot more than agility and +hit to ferals... toss-up. I think a rogue should take these before other classes but then I'd rather a feral druid before anyone else.

If you're not in the armor type for this item you should be beat and stoned for taking it. Other classes have their own armor types AND others to roll on, rogues only have this one. Warriors especially have a armor type for DPS that no other armor type can take from them... if you're not a rogue or feral druid and you took this, delete your character and then /wrist.

BUT!, looking a this item i would say rogue priority and u might ask me felow druids why?
BECAUSE!, pve combat rogues focus mostly on hitting their hit rating cap, as druids ive noticed with ok half my gear being epic gear i almost never miss and when i do it isnt a big deal, also ive never focus on hitrating in my whole WoW gamign experience,
rogues on the other hand look at it like a dog at a fresh warm biscuit.

if all rogues have this or better druids can roll, after that hunters, and after that enhance shamans, plait users shouldnt period im sry ret paly/fury war u can get better

also druids remember maybe for sololing (feral) u have only dps gear but usualy (or atleast for me) when im raiidng i always have the duty of OT, unless u only need one tank for the fight in which i either add Hots in my healing gear (yes i have healing , tanking and dps gear all marcod all different items) or add some dps in dps gear, but a rogue can share same gear all specs, and can only use one kind of gear, so i think they should have priority

For all you people who say these suck for Fury warriors, you are $%^&*!ed. These have all the stats for fury warriors in nice quantity. However, I'm waiting for the rogue in my group to get them first, because he obviously has priority.

I'm a rogue, and I don't have a feral druid, and I still say, sure, if a druid wants them for cat-form, why not? I would suggest looking at Expedition Scout's Epaulets for something to console yourself with if you don't get these. Or grind yourself the Merciless Gladiator's Leather Spaulders for something arguably better.

I am all in favor of cat gear for feral druids. Let's hear it for DPS. I don't have a problem with hybrid classes getting gear for all of their roles, including my role.

Due to the lacking amount of Agility these are a preferd rogue drop argue for ever but for feral dps cat Agi is the most important stat plus a cat's hit rating is much lower then any rogues so this piece will help rogues get to their maximum hit rating (363).

A few people have said it but I would like to re-iterate the fact that as soon as a rogue gets to 70 they need to start looking for +hit rating gear. As soon as I started really building mine up I saw a dramatic increase in my damage output and not just on boss fights. Thanks to everyone else who suggested +hit as priority #1.

I ran kara last night and won these shoulders. Fortunately for me there were no ninjas in my group and I didnt even need to roll...seeing as how I was the only rogue. These are a definite rogue piece, and they've help me out very much. I used to wear the shoulders of assassination and these shoulders jumped my Hp up about 400...my attack power about 10 and my dps 4. Very nice drop :-)
