SO to have anything done about stuff like this you have to be a streamer or play classic ... I get it. "Hear no evil see no evil" As long as multiboxers are paying 5-10 times the account subs the legit player is we will just have to deal with them ruining the economy and griefing in world pvp using both factions toons to track and rez-spawn-farm players. Oh im sorry, did I distract from your conversation about frivolous non game altering occurrences. Dude got dispelled, so effing what... do something about the massive amounts of exploiters you have openly admitting to it on forums and in game alike. "We take reports like this very seriously." Really now? Is that why the guy running 10 boomkins is STILL aoe farming mounts in nazmir 2 weeks later? Been reporting him daily and hes still right there... its a gold seller/account sellers game these days... Maybe if I start live streaming this stuff something will be done about it.
My partner and I were leveling new characters back in MoP and we killed another leveling duo we stumbled upon. Ten minutes later around 20 people hunted us down and sat on our corpses for over two hours. I swapped factions and asked if they were going to leave, and the guy said "we got all night to sit here and camp you, tough luck". I opened a ticket and when it was answered the response I got from Blizzard was "sorry, this isn't against ToS, PvP problems have PvP solutions".If an entire guild can take away your ability to play your character without breaking the rules, it seems a little odd that someone can dispel a buff and have it immediately results in a ban. Definitely feels like some heavy-handed favoritism from the GM in Arlaeus' chat. They probably need to be reprimanded for their actions.
Honestly? The GM should be suspended or even fired for thatIf you don't want to have your buffs removed don't play on a PvP server, simple as thatOr you could just stop streaming, nobody is forcing you to
The BEST part of all this is, dudes whining about being "stream sniped" Just painted the single biggest target anyone could possibly have on their back in wow (I would think anyway...) Every hard core pvp'er and their brother is making a toon on that guys server JUST to hunt him down. - RIP Arlaeus 7/18/2020 -
Not trying to be mean, but dispelling without the intend to fight them and so making said fight easier? Just to anger people? They don't need a ban, but a psychiatrist. Would never have thought such a thing happend.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
In a game that has serious issues with people actually breaking the rules (botting, griefing, etc) and getting away with it, and therefore what is seen as massively ineffective and lacking GM support and access for the vast majority of players - a streamer who has a GM (who seemed to be clocked in and working!) watching live manages to get someone banned (over incredibly dubious evidence) within minutes? Do you realize how insulting it is to most players who pay every month and in return get terrible customer service to see this? This reflects badly on you ,Arlaeus, but much worse on Blizzard and the GM in question. - Stolen from a youtube comment, Felt it needed posted here.
At the very least, this GM needs to have a talk with the boss about properly investigating a situation and conflict of interest--it would have been best for him to pass the situation on to another GM, both because he was apparently off the clock (unless GMs make a habit of watching streamers on-shift, which doesn't resonate at all with the corporate culture Activision-Blizzard have fostered since Mike stepped down and Brack was put in place as chief yes-man) and because he was too close to the situation to be trusted to rule fairly.More likely, he's looking at a two-week suspension for improperly using the tools and privileges granted to him as a GM, both doing so off the clock and doing so for what seems to be a personal favor to someone at least, if not termination considering Blizz is currently very sensitive about bad PR after the absolute bollocking-over they took during 2018 and 2019 (albeit mostly due to graves they'd dug for themselves).
Was the streamer flagged for PvP? Yes? Then no ban. A dispel is the same as an attack in my mind. PvP happened while flagged for PvP.
What was dispelled anyway, and why did it matter?
Imagine getting suspended over a streamer literally no one has heard of; aside from whether or not the GM was in the wrong (though it seems rather clear on that side of things...) if the streamer didn't want to have his buffs constantly dispelled he could consider either a) not playing on a world PvP server where that is custom, or b) simply don't advertise your location, hes on a public stream what did he expect really.
This guy needs to go play animal crossing or something, even in the crappy apology video he's still trying to justify it slyly putting in the guy is saying "real life threats" and "harassment" you can tell he isn't actually sorry and he does actually want that player banned. he's just mad he got caught doing it.
Call the cops xD
Why I hate streamers, basically anyone can supposedly "stream snipe". If I know I'm going against a "streamer" I'd play harder in general doesn't mean I'm going to take the time and snipe their stream. smfh.
I mean on one hand people who dispell world buffs are the scum of the earth who spend their time upsetting others for no gain, so I don't really mind seeing them banned because they are *!@#$%^s at the end of the day. But on the other hand, it's a PvP server and using your class abilities isn't against the rules.
Thank you for the article. It's nice to see the situation not reviewed at face value.
Do we know what happened to the GM? Did he gave a comment or something?
Stream sniping is funny. Just don't stream then, or better yet, don't play on a PvP server if you just cry when people PvP you. Pathetic.
This is beyond stupid. Arleaus himself said " He spends about 50% of his week sitting in one place dispelling people. I think the difference guys, is that it's greifing when you target a specific individual, like they're listening when I was getting summoned and then immediately dispelled me".By his own admission the guy just dispels EVERYONE, making it impossible for this one streamer to be "specifically targeted".If you don't want PvP, don't play on a PvP server. If you don't want everyone to know where you are every second, don't stream. You can't ask everyone to pay attention to you, then demand players get banned when they pay attention to you in a way you don't like. Well... apparently you can if you are personal friends with a GM, but you shouldn't.The streamer should be banned and the GM fired.
