Go north in Western Plaguelands and head north to Hearthglen. Use the mountains on the left side to reach the gates as it's full of elites.

If you aren't a stealther, sprint/mount passed taking the right side road, try to die near the house behind the lumbermill.

The box is lootable in the upstairs of the house at /way 45 15

I managed to solo this as a lv 50 paladin.

First I tried using Gnomish Cloaking Device into Goblin Rocket Helm, but not only did the helm put me in combat, you risk pulling the mob outside the room the box is in.
I tried multiple times looting the box immediately after ressing, as you have about 0.5 second before you are put in combat, and the mob starts casting when you aggro it. The problem it seems is that looting the box is on the gcd, so you don't really have time to do any spells + starting the looting before aggroing/the fireball hits you. If you passively are able to resist/absorb a 500-600 fire spell, then you should be able to loot this this way, but I wasn't able to.

After 5 or so attempts I figured I'd just try straight up killing the mob (56 elite Scarlet Magus).

I judged wisdom and kept seal of wisdom up for the entire fight, never really used any damage abilities. It took a while, but managed to do it in 5-6 min just through white swings+CS. I was near max mana for the larger part of the fight, so I could probably have sped it up some using HotR or SoR once in a while.

The combination of damage reduction and healing through Imp. Sanc, Rebuke and Sacred Shield (MVP), as well as the mana sustain from JoW, SoW and CS allowed me to stay pretty high on mana, allowing for Holy Shield (I used rank 1 to save mana) and Rebuke on cooldown.

Naturally, you can and should throw flash heals when sacred shield is up for the HoT from both Sacred Shield and Sheath (if you crit), and you can also use it when being attacked if needed (even with the delay).

To make sure to not pull the mob in the other room I positioned myself hugging the cupboard next to the box. The mob we are killing is in the middle of the room, but it will come to you once you bubble on the pull.

I started with buffing wisdom on myself and then Divine Shield, just to heal up and gain some mana, then judged wisdom and did CS on cooldown. Remember to buff Sanctuary when bubble ends. As long as you heal (FoL) often it should be fine.

I was expecting to have to BoP/bubble/HoJ on cooldown to heal, but Sacred Shield made it pretty easy actually.

Gearwise I wouldn't say I had anything extremely special, except maybe the tanking trinket from ST (the armor one), though I assume this is completely doable without it. Other than that I focused on hit (6% melee+spell from gear, also had 3% melee from talents), then armor, then stamina. Also, the only Block Value piece I have atm is the engi bracers, should be easier the more BV gear you have. Other notable pieces include Emerald Helm (for the hit), BS shoulders, ST (not BV set) chest and boots, and Wild Offering ring and trinket.

I failed once because the mob ran away at low health. Learned from my mistake and judged Justice when the mob was nearing 20% health. :)

I tried soloing because I liked the challenge, but 2 people corpserunning where 1 of them pulls the mob and runs out, and the other resses right after and loots the box should be entirely doable,

When I went for this Quest item there was a 57 Scarlet Magus in the same room as the Box of Scarlet Dye. I paid another Rogue 15g to spawn before I did to blind the mage. We were outside of party and it still put me in combat so I vanished and opened it successfully on the second attempt.

Description

The time for defense is over! We won't win unless we sabotage the competition! Their fuel! Lets see. Firebloom and Rum? THIS IS WHAT GNOMISH INGENUITY IS LOSING TO? STEEPED ALCOHOL? We need to find a way to sabotage the enemy fuel without them noticing. There is a flower of incredible red color, the compounds of the petals are unstable when the smallest amount of heat is applied. The Scarlet Crusade uses this flower in their dyes. Go to Hearthglen and find me some.
