In the next major content patch, we intend to adjust mount requirements to further improve the leveling experience in World of Warcraft. In addition, cast times for summoning all mounts will be reduced to 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds. The following is a breakdown of the upcoming cost and level requirement changes we are making for each riding skill.

Apprentice Riding (Skill 75)

60% land mount speed
Requires level 20
Cost: 4 gold
Mount cost: 1 gold
Mail will be sent to players at level 20 guiding them to the riding trainer

Journeyman Riding (Skill 150)

100% land mount speed
Requires level 40
Cost: 50 gold
Mount cost: 10 gold
Mail will be sent to players at level 40 guiding them back to the riding trainer

Expert Riding (Skill 225)

150% flying mount speed; 60% land mount speed
Requires level 60
Cost: 600 gold (faction discounts now apply)
Mount Cost: 50 gold
Can now be learned in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde)

Artisan Riding (Skill 300)

280% flying mount speed; 100% land mount speed
Requires level 70
Cost: 5,000 gold (faction discounts now apply)
Mount Cost: 100 gold

Actually the lore in Northrend is based on and related to the Azeroth and BC lore. And, anyway, why would that make starting at 68 a good idea?

This is a typical strawman argument...You mention things I never claimed and totally avoid my points.

So you don't remember the multiple posts from previous pages about you QQing how you were skipping content with the lower mounts? I was stating that the less travel time from the mounts would in no way cause you to skip content, which in earlier posts, you said it would. Strawman? You wish.

Starting at 68 would basically be the equivalent of Blizzard starting a brand new game based solely on WotLK content with you starting as a level one character.

I think its kinda stupid, for all the players who spent all that hard earned money and for players like myself who collect mounts should get a refund. The whole reason they made Cold Weather Flying was so people don't rush through Northrend. So what do they do? Make the flying level to 60 and mounts to 20. People won't really pay attention to classic and burning crusade content anymore :(.

I have never claimed that faster land mounts at early levels was a problem. Or that you need to walk for 15 min to enjoy the content.

I was only talking about quests designed for land mounts that becomes trivial with flying mounts. And this means that if you use a flying mount you will not really do the quest as intended. You can sometimes skip 95% of the quest and complete it without really doing much...Should be obvious.

Arthas and The Lich King are mentioned in the original WoW lore from when the game was released. Blood elfs are also part of the original lore.
Obviously you dont know the lore...

Well, no.
Most quests you recieve the 'lore' from by just reading the text in the quest. I don't see how simply skipping some random mobs to get the mob you want changes the lore in any way. Blizzard WANTS you to skip 95% of that quest, because they WANT you to make it to 80. The game is no longer about leveling, as I've stated before.

And I'm refering to the lore you get from the game only, because most of that other lore, you have to go to additional sources.
You can sleep walk through half the game and still know the essential 'lore'.
But no, most pure gamers didn't know much about BC until... you got it, BC.
You can't start talking about lore from before the game when before you were argueing thats what people would be skipping...

Well, personally, i think that continuing to make the game easier also makes it less fun. Its the challenge and the victory in the midst of that challenge that keep us all coming back. Like others have said, the pre-WoLK zones are already almost useless, and the lvl 50-60 instances that used to be so popular are like ghost towns now. As far as mount costs, I'm not asking for a refund, but I think those of us who have been playing since Beta and since Launch, and have had to replace keyboards and mice, and grind our characters into dust just to get the desirables in the game, should be given something. Blizz should do something for those of us who have accounts older than 5 years old. Not a refund, so much, but give us something man! How about an Heirloom mount with epic speed that we can give to our lvl 1's so we can stay a bit ahead of these new kids who get to just jump right into the game and have 80's after a month. I think we deserve something that says, "hey, you old guys are bad asses, and I only wish i could be that bad ass!"

Having the option to buy a mount sooner in no way makes the game easier.
Blizzard owers us nothing mate. In fact, we owe them every month for allowing us to play their game. Why? Because its fun, addicting, and many other reasons.
So what if people can get to 80 in a month if its their first toon? Its not like they'll be going anywhere until they learn the game, no matter what.
We've all run into noobs. Just because they get to 80 faster doesn't make them any more or less viable for anything.
Stop QQing.

Question I have is: If you can now buy a flying mount at Level 60 and reputation discounts for the flyer are now based on reputation with Honor Hold/Thrallmar instead of the traditional racial discount then how would that help seeing as you haven't done any real questing at Honor Hold or Thrallmar at Level 60? Seems pretty useless to me unless you are in Outlands the moment you hit Level 58 (and you probably won't see exalted or even revered by level 60) or hold off on buying your flyer until you attain more reputation. They should apply the traditional racial reputation discount to the flyer or else it really doesn't help much.

Anyone who doesn't think that questing in Outlands will be a LOT easier with a flyer at Level 60 is just delusional. It will be a LOT easier. So what? I've leveled FOUR toons in Outlands and frankly I'm sick of the place. I welcome the chance to skip over a lot of the trash to attain my goal and finish the quest. I've experienced plenty in Outlands. More than I want to. It's one reason I haven't been rushing to play my DK (He's still in Eastern Plaguelands). Now I'm feeling it won't be so bad.

I've always felt it was a shame that the DKs didn't have a questline they could follow right into Northrend. They are supposed to be a "Heroic" class, aren't they? What's so heroic about being dumped into Outlands for the umpteenth time. Anyone rolling a DK has been there at least once.

If those that are new and want to experience Outlands as it was intended when BC first came out they don't HAVE to buy a flyer. They can hop on their land mount and quest away and let us old timers just grind through it to Northrend. What is the big deal? Fact is the game HAS changed for those who are questing in Azeroth and Outlands. It's pretty much solo questing unless you have a social network that supports grouping for instances/raids. People are still doing the older dungeons for achievements of just for fun and Blizzard has tried to encourage this best that they can but face it, it's not the same game it was a few years ago.

For people like myself who are enjoying questing with a lower level alt and enjoy taking a trip back to Azeroth having a mount at a lower level will be a pleasure. As for nerfing, that was done ages ago when Blizzard made it faster/easier to level by giving more XP and taking away the amount of XP you needed for each level. Many elites were made into regular mobs. Once difficult group quests/areas are now completely solable. Been into Jintha Alor in the Hinterlands lately? There's one example. The nerfing has ALREADY been done. Let it go already. If you don't want the damn mount then don't buy it and pretend nothing has changed.

I can't stand the mongs in here who seem to think the vanilla and BC content is completely redundant. Like it or not, a new player starts at level one, just like you all once did. The original content is there to introduce them to their class, the game mechanics, and the world in which they are meant to be taking part (RPG = ROLE PLAYING GAME for those of you who seem to think the game is purely a loot hunt).

Do you go and get a new job, and immediately think it is your god given right to start in the Managers chair? Do you pass your driving test, and then insist that, yes, indeed, you now have the right to be a Formula One driver? Would you take a girl on a date, and figure, since you paid for dinner, by god, she should just drop trou and do the nasty?

Hell no. So why do you think buying WoW gives you the right to start at anything other than level one?

Go and earn your way up the ladder, and learn to play your god damn class. IMHO, Blizz implementing their totally, epically retarded "hero" class, the Death Tard, was the worst, worst thing they ever did, because it has set an unhealthy precedent for people thinking they should just start out with everything given to them on a shiny little plate.

I am all for the mount changes. Makes sense to me. And it gives new players a break. Farming 480g for Journeyman was a nightmare, plus the 80g for the mount itself. But that's far enough. If Blizz encourage and allow people to completely skip 80% of vanilla and BC, then they are doing us all a disservice.

Wow S20mike calm down there killa, lol on a different note i like the idea of the new mount changes however with them already dropping it once before now the question is how much lower are they going to be willing to drop it? 10? automatically when you make a toon? regardless it will help those new players experience Vanilla/TBC the same way we did but just a little faster is all i dont see a problem with it. i too have multiple toons waiting for this that can benefit just as everyone else.

I'll agree that there are many that believe that, but i have seen very few in this thread. Also, people do what they have fun doing. I personally only like higher level pvp, but i know some people love to go out on an alt and BG. I also like reading a lot of the quests-i'm okay that others don't have the time, patience, or want to do so. People do things for different reasons;deal with it. If their demanding that you NEED to play their way(as is the way you come off as in that paragraph), then there is a problem.

First. I am not demanding anyone plays my way, because I don't have a "way". What I expect is that people play the game as it was designed. It was designed so that somebody who goes out and buys a retail copy of parts 1, 2, and 3, installs, and boots up, starts in this zone, does that quest, earns experience, gear, and talents, and learns their class. By doing so, they earn their way to the more "interesting" and relevant higher level content.

Nope. But if you are a successful manager in X Y and Z company for a few years, their not going to start you out as a dock loader.

I'll try to make this applicable to WoW. You work as a Manager for a IT company, we'll call that a Warrior. You then decide you want to be a Doctor, we'll call that a Priest. Do you get to skip all the training and study because you were a good Manager of an IT company? Because you leveled a Warrior to 80, do you get to start a Priest at 68? Think about the point I am trying to make. People want to start new characters, new classes...at level 68.

Hell no. So why do you think buying WoW gives you the right to start at anything other than level one?

Who said this? I can understand some brand new players wanting a high level right off the bat, but after a couple weeks that will fade into them wanting to get it themselves.

Howso? You level someone to level 55, so you get another character at 55. Yes, i understand that there is a massive amount of less time to learn the class and until you have the spec and are rather deep into Outlands you probably won't be very savvy, but i've also seen a level 53 hunter conserving bullets by meleeing 99% of the time.

Bad players are bad players. Some are always that way. Some are that way because they powered, RaF'd or got boosted through 50 - 60 levels of their class. NOT allowing people to start a class at level 55, 68, whatever, while not stopping this completely, I'm confident would reduce the chances of it being the case. Or at least stop every server being flooded by newly created and really, really dire high level alts.

QQ less is all i can say right here. I was replacing most of my DK's gear before level 63 from QUESTS. The only things that take awhile to replace would be the trinkets and the 'special' slot.

WTS sense of humour is all I'll say here. I was making a slightly irreverent comment on some of the thoughts we ALL know go through a lot of newly rolled DK players heads. Also...saying QQ all the time...is really, really quite sad. I simply don't get hurt by it, because it's just a bit...geeky? And who cares what you replaced and when? I'm talking about what you get given, off the bat.

Again, QQ less. Some people have done all of the vanilla/BC content three or four times and its getting old. Mounts will make you do no less except you won't be seeing the scenery as slowly. Yes, they have increased the gain of XP a few times but that doesn't stop people who WANT to do the content from doing it. I went to the plaguelands and did those quests, then i went into outlands at 60 and didn't leave until i was a little into 70 having done most of the outland zones, save some of those dungeons as i find few who would go that are high enough level but not in northrend.

Blizzard is SERVICING people by allowing them to make CHOICES on how to play the GAME so that they can have the optimal amount of FUN. DISservice would be causing repercussions to these choices. By not providing the services, they are only making some people a little more frustrated/bored, and a few people happy because these people are forced to do the things they don't want to do.

TL;DR When I was a kid i had to walk up and down three hills in a blizzard with a forty pound back pack to go to the ballpark, i'm sick of all these youngen's getting rides to wherever they want!

Again, please use "QQ less" less, because it's a bit dumb if it's the best response you can give to something. Easy way out for a simple mind to type "QQ less" and think they said something smart. Anyway...why are you telling me what you did? I don't care.

And also, I don't care how many times you have done something. It still doesn't give you the right do say "give me a fresh high leveled character". There is a simple progression to the game. You do this, then that, then the other, just like people have been doing in games since the 80's. And you live with it, or if you are getting truly fed up of it, stop bloody playing, find a different game. Bear in mind, there are new players joining all the time, and to make the first two parts of the game redundant, when they still have to pay for the bloody things, is a nonsense, and a disservice to them.
