There aren't many differences between the two specs specs, and I often heal raids with a pvp spec fine. The differences are that pvp takes unbreakable will, while pve would take twin disciples. Also pvp specs into silent resolve for dispel resistance, while it is so no longer needed in pve due to insane tps generation by tanks.
Also like you said imp mana burn is a pvp only skill, and the -1 sec md cast time talent is usually taken for pve as well because it gives 4% more healing. And the last thing is that pve specs into inspiration, as you are often tank healing.
couple sample specs:
pve:

pvp:

Note there is a much larger variation to pvp specs and preferences, while as there is a much more set spec for pve. I run something similar to the pvp spec i posted, but there is really many different specs that you can run depending on your comp, bracket, gear, and general preference.

from my build to debaser ones in PVE just 2 points changes and those ones dont matter much, mine reduces any spell dmg that may come from bosses and his reduces cast time of Gheal... like you won't be casting Gheal much (or at all) I think the 2 points in reduced spell damage are better... but it doesnt rly matter much
----
in the PVP spec we see more changes ^^ about the changes in Holy tree i rly think 5% more crit its best than less 10% spell dmg... because you may not find always a spell caster class in arena and the 5% crit are always there
about the Improved Fortitude I think its a must in arena, even if they dispell the buff you still get the 4% bonus to your stamina... which is something
Martydrom is rly good against rogues and warriors... less spell pushback (not sure if its stacks with Healing Focus but i think it does and less 20% in Interrupt effects (it reduces kick effect from 5 to 4 secs, it saves many lives :) )
The other difference is about the reduced cost of abolish diseases and dispells, I wont say its not worthy of getting cause you will be dispelling lots of stuff in arena but I think the 15% less cost and 10% more crit of Improved Flash Heal helps a lot more procs of Divine Aegis that its all you'll be doing --- in this case is rly up to you to use one or the other talent...
about reflective shield its 1514 dmg (with 2000 SP) it does so considering that you may want to change 2 points in Martyrdom or Imp Fortitude for those... its rly up to you
Edit:debaser didnt used glyphs on those builds so can't discuss my options more than this: PS while stunned saves lives, reduced CD on penance is a must and 20% heals with shield is 673 (with the same 2000 SP), if you want to change the last one since healing is not that much the choices would be between inner fire and flash heal

I actually also think that Disc is better than Shadow from 70+
While lvling I respecced at 72 for being able to enjoy the instnaces as I lvled... and right after changed I didnt noticed any chage in the time
as shadow the only CD's you use are Dispersion and Shadowfiend... but using Shadowfiend and a Mana drink does exactly the same thing...
Using Holy Fire - Penance - Smite rotation is less mana expensive than a shadow rotation and kills a mob at the same speed...
I've tested this in the early stages of WotLK don't know if many things changed now...
This allows you to heal easily in isntances and its more effective on lvling cause you dont get downtime from going out of shadowform to heal when there is a bigger pull
this is getting a bit offtopic tough^^ this is my opinion only, I didnt noticed anymore downtime than what i was getting in Shadow specced and like I like Disc the most it brought joy to llving experience^^

look at that topic... I only saw it now and im reading right now^^
that ones says its best from 20+ =)
read it
my experience says its best from 70-80, but that's just me^^
PS: actually that isnt a Disc Spec but a Holy one... the one I was using was
this one
... understand my purpose was doing fine heals in instances in lvling process to check new content, it may not be the most efficient but with blue gear you get from instances you shouldn't have much problems with it

As strange as it sounds, discipline and holy really are the superior leveling specs from 70-80. The reason is that most of your quests will follow the typical "kill X number of Y" format, which is easily done by dotting up as many nearby mobs as possible, shielding, and then spamming holy nova/reapplying dots when needed. If you're even a little geared hitting 70, you're going to have a respectable crit rating for holy spells, and the mobs will go down fast.
"But wait," you might say, "What about having a more powerful mind sear, and DOTs at your disposal? What about that?" Well, it's great in theory, but in execution, having to pop out of shadowform for emergency healing is a lot less useful and more mana-intensive (higher downtime) than just throwing a renew on yourself and being able to tank many, many more mobs at the same time, healing whenever needed.
Discipline in particular has tools that will aid this kind of AOE farming/questing, such as power infusion, to cut down on mana costs, and pain suppression in case you get in a jam.
In fact, my farming build relies far more heavily on discipline talents, not shadow spec. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

Disc Arena Priests: What the Pros are Doing
would be your best bet on finding a pvp spec that works for you. As for pve, it's almost entirely cookie-cutter. You should be able to do both pve and pvp w/ either spec, assuming you have gear that's a little better than required.

Well, for me my pve specc is alot different from pvp specc ( i for example don't spend 6 points into the intelect and the haste/less mana cost buff), as i find that not as usefull as some higher holy talents.
For disc leveling, i think he's thinking about vanilla wow/tbc, when wand did 25% more dmg, i remember being disc, just popping shield, put SW:P on, and wand to dead :)
Mental Strength
and
Power Infusion
not worth 6 tp's? Both these are very important for longevity.

PVE Disc
PVP Disc
With the exception of 2 pts in Absolution instead of Martyrdom, those are my exact builds. I pvp with a pally...Martyrdom is worthless.
