Druids and the much-speculated Emerald Dream Expansion...

So obviously if (when) the Emerald Dream expansion is released, druids will have a key place in it. I have seen several people speculating on the potential ways of making druids the new hero class etc etc etc (I essentially ignore any thread with "Hero Class" in the title anymore, there are too many).
Anyway, I got to thinking...what if in the Emerald Dream expansion, druids were given a few options...
Stay as you are.
Go feral and recieve 3 feral combat specializations, allowing you to be much like a warrior with one tree, a rogue with another, etc...
Go balance, and receive 3 balance specs, one focusing on treants or something, making you a bit like a hunter, but doing magic damage, another focusing on AOE, etc...
Go Resto, and recieve a tree focused on HoT's, another on big heals with longer cast times, etc...
The more I think about it, the less viable it seems, but it's still fun to think about.
Discuss?

I think your idea exemplifies the exact reason why an Emerald Dream expansion will probably not be done very well. I don't think Blizzard would give this much attention to a single class; the background lore of the Emerald Dream practically demands it, however. I do think the Emerald Dream will eventually become an xpack, but I think all of us druids will be disappointed, no matter how Blizzard decides to do it.
Also, the Emerald Dream is apparently an exact copy of Azeroth, except no 'civilization' around... If Blizzard made an expansion as big as Azeroth, with all areas developed to allow for Flying... it would be massive, 4 or 5 times larger than Outland / Northrend. I suspect the paralled Dream world would likely consist of only select zones, with some lame excuse for why the others are unavailable.
Both of these things make me believe that if (and when, as you said) the Emerald Dream is released, it will be an utter disappointment. I think more likely for the next cadidate is probably the Maelstrom with a large emphasis on underwater play... or something else more narrow and focused than the whole Emerald Dream.
Maybe the Emerald Dream would make a good foundation for a new platform altogether, World of Warcraft 2 maybe?

I'm pretty sure they will eventually make an Emerald Dream expansion since they have been working on it for YEARS. I'm glad they moved away from the idea of making it an instance, and instead a zone or whatever. It will be huge, it will be gorgeous. Just think, one big super continent, NOT blown up, NOT tainted by civilization, just beautiful environments, with a few added in nightmare stuff.
As for hero classes... hero classes are separate classes, not upgraded classes. So unless the mechanics of arch druid, or druid magi, or whatever druid related hero class there MAY be, it'd have to be different from the current druid class, and not made in such a way that makes current druids obsolete.
Hopes of the Emerald Dream are one of the things that keep me hanging on this game. I love the lore around druids and the Emerald Dream would just be omg amazing.
But druids damn well better have a port to it or something!

I think that druids need to be given "multi spec" instead of "dual spec". Hell, everyone for that matter.
-Warriors have Prot, arms pve, arms pvp, fury pve, prot interupt spec.
-Druids have feral pvp/tank/kitty/threat tank, balance pve/IFF/pvp/restokin, resto pve/pvp/single target/aoe/resto-charge...
I'll just leave it at that. The bottom line is, the talent trees are flexible enough that you have to spec into what you want to do. Dual spec just doesn't cut it for pve or pvp and the onset of glyphs makes it stupidly expensive to switch between specs. Just because I'm insane as a feral druid doesn't mean I don't want to play resto or balance every so often in PvP. But having PvE and PvP specs already, I have to pay to spec/glyph both ways just to switch it up for a day or two....

Probably more than just a little nightmarish taint, don't you think? :)
And as far as Emerald Dream lore is concerned, I hardly think the developers are all that limited by what is already known. Northrend, after all, turned out to be loaded with all kinds of stuff we didn't anticipate, including a whole Nordic viking giant culture, tons and tons of ancient technology, and a prison for an ancient, evil Chthonian deity! Anywhere that will require levels 78-90 will likely be even crazier.
Probably, but from what concept art and past zone development I've seen, there is going to be quite a bit of green in there.
There is a quest in northrend where you actually go into the emerald dream, and with the conversation in the PTR (
http://www.wow.com/2009/06/28/patch-3-2-ptr-tauren-druid-conversation-may-reveal-lore-and-exp/
), blizz may be leaning towards building up the Emerald Dream.
If anything, they are definitely hinting towards at LEAST a more druid centered patch or some form of development.

This. Totally. I will be extremely disappointed if there isn't some kind of special attention given to druids in an Emerald Dream expansion. Mind you, I'm not asking for special buffs to make us OP or anything (we're already the most versatile class in the game), but some new kind of druid-specific spells...or something.
I'm not gonna lie and say I'll quit if it doesn't happen, because I won't...I probably won't quit until WoW 2 comes out. But I would very much like to see some extra attention given to druids in the Emerald Dream expension.

I think that the only attention the druids will get, is the attention they've already got through lore. I don't see why the ED expansion, should give druids new spells.
But back to the subject, Yes the Emerald Dream would be the ideal opportunity of a third expansion for the game and for what we've already seen Blizzard capable of, making a combined Azeroth prior to the sundering and all that, shouldn't be a problem for Blizzard IMO. I'm honestly hoping, praying for the Emerald Dream expansion to be next, cause the lore behind ED is amazing, and for those who don't know it, go read it. :)

Well, seeing as how the emerald dreams seems to be a little &*!@ed up, what with ysera going ape#$%^ and malfurion being lost in there, I think it would be safe to think blizz might do to druids there what they did with pallies in WotLK for making a hero class: make an inversion. If you notice, a DK is everything a pally is not yet is similar enough to notice the connection. Unholy instead of holy, Dots rather than Hots, and so forth. Yet they both wear plate. I could see them throwing in a blighter class that just rots and twists nature. Maybe it has, for its trees, diseases, poisons, and pets. kinda like a druid flavored hybrid of a huter a warlock (like a dk is kinda like a pally lock combo). It is an interesting idea tho i also think that blizz should retcon a hero class for BC content by throwing in a demonhunter class but thats just me.
An anti-druid would be like someone who kicks baby animals and pours motor oil in rivers.

Well with any expansion there will be new spells for all classes.
I think my favorite idea is the portal, DKs got a deathgate and Druids have moonglade, but being able to creat a port to the new dalaran/shar would be a cool benifit to Druids in EM but not OPed
