Ok I just tried posting this and it just disappeared when I hit submit.
I looked up old threads on swift flight form. It is now trainable.
It is also 5k gold.
Can the quest line still be done and will it save me the 5k ?

Once you train 300 Riding (5000g, requires level 70), you can either wait till level 71 and get it from the Trainer for ~20g, or you can talk to Loganaar in Moonglade to start the Swift Flight Form chain (req. level 70). Completing this chain still rewards Swift Flight Form, as well as a nifty
Feat of Strength
(which is still attainable, I just got it on my new druid 2 days ago -- If you buy Swift Flight from the trainer THEN complete the chain, you
don't
still get this) and 2 trinkets (neither are very good, but I still have all 4 of my
Charm of Swift Flights
in my respective banks, for posterity).
If you like Lore at all, the quest chain is an absolute must, its very well put-together. Also, if you're a
real
druid, you should get the Feat of Strength, its a badge of honor now in my opinion. Also as a side note, once you get to the last step--which requires kiling Anzu in Heroic Sethekk Halls--it will probably be pretty easy to jump into Trade Channel and find a "brother" druid to stealth run it with you, most end game skilled druids will sympathize with your efforts to complete this chain even though its not required anymore (and everyone loves a crack at getting
Reins of the Raven Lord
-- which you'll be able to do at least once a day if you complete this chain!)

If you want to save a bit of gold, work on getting your faction's discount faction to exalted before the patch.

You can train for Swift Flight Form, and then go back and do the quests for the for the Feat of Strength.

You need to have the training (the 5k cost) to even unlock the quest line.
in patch 3.2 the cost is being lowered to 4k plus faction discount.
Its still pricey, but a little cheaper.
I didn't hear anything about it being reduced to a 4k default cost. I'm pretty sure the 4k is after exalted discounts.

Yes. Any form of flying in Northrend (that is not the K3 loan mount) requires Cold Weather Flying.
(necromancy is bad btw)

Aw, come on Celdhyrean. He looked for the issue, didn't find it, and posted in the most relevant thread he could find.

When I got to the point for doing the Sethekk Halls part for my questline I refused to do it with any other class except for a fellow druid. Just seems 'right' to have a 'brother'/'sister' to team up with to maul or moonfire the heck out of the big fluffy bird that *cough* refusestodropmount *cough*. I would say that there should be a good number of druids hanging around (depending on your server type) that shouldnt mind helping with it.

Aw, come on Celdhyrean. He looked for the issue, didn't find it, and posted in the most relevant thread he could find. It's not a big problem, and i generally don't like to try to play forum mod.
Still, generally if you don't find a thread concerning your issue that is less old than ~2 weeks (adapt depending on forum activity), it's better to open a new one, intimidating as it might seem.
The problem lies with many forum readers replying to the initial post without reading the whole thread or not realizing that there was actually a new question asked, throwing the discussion on a tangent about outdated content/opinions/...
