It's not hard. BM makes leveling very easy just about any way you slice it. Just get yourself a Tenacity pet (I suggest a Bear; easy to find, easy diet, two AoE attacks) and start picking on some monsters.
Here's a build with some extra points left to put in;
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#cVbGzgxoVzhesx0ehb:cVazM0BM is all about the survivability of your pet, since it will be the one taking all the damage for you and keeping the attention of the monsters.
You'll want to focus on gear with Agility and if you get the talent Careful Aim, Intelligence is good too (since it gives you attack power and mana). But never roll on caster gear with Intel and Spell Power or anything like that. Agility is your main concern, as well as Attack Power and Crit.
The Hunter is all about fighting at range and letting his pet (or the group's tank) take all the aggro and the hits. You want to stay away as much as possible. Don't try to play "melee Hunter". When it comes to non-ranged weapons, just worry about the stat bonuses they'll give you. If you have mobs in your face then your goal is to get them away from you with use of traps, your pet, and skills like Disengage.
As you play BM, get used to controlling your pet and make sure it does not pull unwanted monsters your way. This will be handy when you're in instance groups later, since if your pet accidently pulls unwanted mobs it can spell doom for your party.
