I have no intention of changing to fire. The playstyle doesn't really float my boat for the time being.
Dread: I'm actually already specced into Frost Warding & Incanter's Absorption at the moment; it's a very helpful choice, I must say. Problem is I need the points in Precision for Icy Veins which is why I'm now looking at Arcane Focus... =/
You could move them into Ice Shards as well, for better AOE damage.

I think we're getting a bit distracted here anyway; I'm not overly concerned how my Frost points are being spent in an Arcane build. What I want to really know is if it's worth taking points out of
Arcane Focus
to gain some pushback protection with
Arcane Stability
?
As long as you think your mana can stand it, go for it.

As long as you're arcane, I'd suggest taking Stability, even 5/5 if you can manage. It helps a lot.
The loss of 3% cost reduction won't change a thing. Likely, if you've not been having problems before, you still won't have problems without it.
2 things to note.
1. If you have a paladin in your raid running Concentration Aura, then you won't need all 5 points in stability.
2. the 3% reduced mana cost does scale with the AB buff. At 3 stacks, you're saving quite a bit more than 3%.

So using Mage Armor will be a cinch, but Molten is likely to have issues... Hmm.
thus is the eternal question plaguging arcane mages.. I really think that there's some encounters you'd just be better off in mage armor anyway.. Hodir, Loathieb, IC (to an extent), Thaddius... because they all have those damage modifiers you're less reliant on the crit you get from molten armor to up your dps.
