Meh, I fail to see the point of redirecting somedamage to me. Sure i can use my bubble to block those damage, but I only do 50% damage, thus reducing my primary role: DPS.
I prefer to let the pally tank do it.
Like i said, im making myself more useful (IMHO) by giving some good resistance aura and be able to heal the tank a few times if the healers are stunned/rooted/stupid than making myself tougher.
The point of redirecting damage to yourself is to keep a raid group alive through high damage phases, or if a healer goes down, to make sure people stay alive and to help out the remaining healers. It's a very nice tool, and one that I can't believe you'd shrug at.
A tank can't pop Divine Sacrifice and then bubble -- all targets will drop off of the tank. In most encounters, it'd be stupid for a tank to even pop Divine Sacrifice in the first place, as a spike of damage could very quickly kill them.
You mention throwing out heals; doing so ruins your primary role of DPS, doesn't it? :P However, 50% less damage, but saving the entire raid from a wipe? Utility, thy name is Divine Sacrifice, and thy friend is Divine Shield.
TO ANSWER THE OP: As Holy, I could see -possibly- getting it, but you'd be sacrificing a point for something that is highly situational. It's very hard to know exactly when someone is going to silence you, but then again, I've had plenty of DKs go immune to my stun because of Icebound Fortitude, because I wasn't paying attention.
EDIT: I missed that little word "ret" in the thread title and OP's post. >_< No, it's absolutely useless.
