Fire Spec Comparison

I've generally run with arcane since WotLK has come out. I've never tried a raiding fire spec before and want to put up two specs to be checked out.
First Spec Purpose: To get the 6% hit from talents and tap into Icy Veins and Frost Channeling for reduced mana cost on spells. Blizzard's AoE damage is also improved.

Second Spec Purpose: DPS to the max but I passed up Torment the Weak for Arcane Meditation which together with Pyromanic to get 100% mana regen during casting, and Student of the Mind for the additional crit from molten armor.

And.... go!

..Just read the stickies about specs.
As far as your first one Arcane focus only effects ARCANE spells. Your first one is also based around FFB (come the talents) and therefore cutting fireball casting speed is of no benefit.
Filler.
Your second one is also not good. 12% Damage is a lot. You also missed out on Playing with Fire which is another 3% damage.
This requires an arcane mage to keep Slow up on the boss at all times. No arcane mage does this as it's a waste of mana. I chose not to take Playing with Fire because of the extra damage incurred.

Learn mechanics before you try to correct people.
Oh, but I do. I love it when people get snippy. That's why I pull 5k as arcane... I just want to know how to pull the same with fire since I have the correct gear for it. AB AB AB then Abarr/AM gets old.
Playing with Fire I can see from your point of view, but 3% damage in when you aren't the MT isn't a big deal, 3% damage out is.
Things get a little hectic for healers in some ulduar fights like Ignus even with Fire Ward mitigation and Mimiron's phase 2. Thats why I made that choice, but in the end I guess 3% damage in isn't a game breaker. Our guild has fantastic healers.
What were the 3 points in Arcane focus for?
3% hit rating, it counts towards all spells, but the mana reduction only counts toward arcane.
Edit: I'm just used to the 6% hit rating I get from my arcane build. I'm spoiled :)
Meh, I just wanted some input from the community on a couple builds I just pulled out of my ass since I can just use my roommate's fire spec whose mage is the 3rd guild on our server to get down 25 man yogg... I watched him win it with 1 second left on the enrage timer, it was sick.

I know rogues who pull more as resto.
That made me lawl.
anyways, your FFB spec looks terrible.
Ty for the lack of input, I love trolls.
Your fb/ttw spec seems to be missing a little ttw.
You obviously didn't read the comment associated with that spec...
Second Spec Purpose: DPS to the max but I passed up Torment the Weak for Arcane Meditation which together with Pyromanic to get 100% mana regen during casting, and Student of the Mind for the additional crit from molten armor.
No intelligent posters on the mage forums apparently. Moderator, please lock this thread.

I'm not even a mage... but even i know that torment the weak is triggered by things like thunderclap, frost fever, judgements of the just etc. I also know from the fireball/ttw mages in my guild that it is pretty much required in a fireball build. Doing otherwise would be a 12% dps loss, which is pretty big if you ask me.
Take ttw.

you asked for advice, yet you won't give it a fair shake, and you're calling them unintelligent? heh.
Arcane focus gives you 3% hit for
arcane spells only
. If you're unsure, look yourself up on be.imba.hu, and it'll show different hit caps for arcane and for fire/frost.. why? because arcane focus doesn't work on fire/frost spells.
For TTW...
all tanks
have a combat slow that triggers it:
Pallies -
Judgements of the Just
Feral druids -
Infected wounds
Warriors -
Thunder Clap
Death knights -
Frost fever
(triggered by Icy touch, which ALL SPECS of death knights use.)
also.. read everything mathron said..
I realize i'm repeating stuff that's already been said above, but seriously.. if you're going to come in here, ask for advice, get GOOD advice, and then call the people giving it to you trolls and idiots, don't expect to get much help. if you don't want to take the advice of the people trying to help you, that's fine. However, don't expect much help in the future if you come crying to this thread trying to figure out why you still can't pull 5k dps as fire.

You really don't seem to be looking for advice, regardless of what you're saying above. You ask us to "check out" your specs but don't accept any criticism.
If you're looking for someone to pat you on the back and tell you that these are wonderful specs for the goals that you have then don't hold your breath.
If you want actual criticism and some tips on making your specs more effective, then you may want to tuck your ego away. It generally helps.
