I would say go destro if you like it, but have the druid heal the pet aswell as you (VW pet) because he will be what is keeping stuff away from you. Alternatively you could go aff and do the same thing but when you get dark pact, you will need to switch to your imp as a mana battery. You could also go demo and have your pets enhanced and have stamina buffed from first tier, also felguard and cool metamorphosis.
May I ask why would you only use life tap? It seems what you are asking is if you should just go for stam and blast your way through everything in your way and use life tap when you need it (a lot if you dont stack int) and you will effectively be playing a mage with a demon and no pyroblast (chaos bolt if dest).
Imo, you should go aff which will have few mana problems and keep a healthy balance between stam, int and, when it comes around, SP. If you are running out of mana you can use life tap or drain mana, and if you get low on health you can use drain life or a healthstone.
This would defeat the purpose of a healing druid, so your friend could then go feral or balance (whatever they prefer) and you will plow through levels.
If you do my suggestion remember to keep your druid friend up with a soulstone so that if he/she is tanking and dies, they get back up quickly and re-bear form. This also works that if you both die he then uses the soulstone and rez's you.
Happy Leveling!

For RaF levelling I'd go with Aff/Feral (Cat).
With you following the standard Aff levelling style and your friend finishing off the mobs you've DoT'ed like an extra DPS pet ;P
If you need heals he can give them, but you'll level faster as double-DPS.

I second that, affliction would be a better choice as you can dot a mob and then run to another one and dot, then run to another one and dot (do you see a pattern here?)
with the cat druid dpsing the mobs you dot to finish them off. and when you run out of mana he can give you a hot or two for you to life tap and keep going.
my 2 cents =)
