The fonts for what we see typed here in these threads seems to be different than the font of the forum text when you're deciding which thread to click.
What I'm typing right now seems like Arial and when you're actually in the forum looking at the threads to click, it looks like Tahoma.

A quick look at the css says Verdana.

If you find that investigating how sites do what they do is something you want to do often, I can't gush over or recommend more the Firefox addon Firebug. It's about the best thing since sliced bread and I wouldn't know how to live without it. I also wouldn't be able to pick so specifically through Wowhead's CSS so I can make annoying suggestions like the code box font-family reordering :).

Or you could just copy text from IE (which copies the formatting to the clipboard), paste it into Word, and see what font that text has.
Yeah, IE is crappy, but this is usually the fastest way to know.

Actually, at a second glance, it seems Verdana is only used on the tooltips' text and the forum threads' names in the thread listing. Everything else (except code boxes) seems to be Arial.
