First character - Skinning and Mining/Herbalism for money.

No one mentioning Herbalism/Alchemy? Potions come in handy because the Rogue can't heal himself... (other then eating food or Bandages which cannot be done in combat and can be interrupted respectively)
Or Herbalism/Inscription? Scrolls are usefull also you can make some money selling the Glyphs..

Rogues get lots of nifty items in both catagories AKA: nitro boosts attachments, hyperspeed/rocket cannon gloves, parachute for tricky escapes where safe fall does not negate the fall. rocket launchers, mind control caps, polymorph gun, weakness specs, zapthrottle mote extractor(in conjunction with the goggles, personally i farm fires in the cauldron of fire in wg) telescope(when im bored) explosive sheep, can control machines, self heals, polymorph negations on friendly targets, ice and fire damage absorbers, bombs, dynamite, scopes, goblin explosives, seeing people naked >:D, lockbox opening for the lazy ones who dont get lp up, mechanical pets, shrink rays, nets, belts that reduce damage, fireworks, guns, underwater breathing, mc on mobs, battlechickens, flashlights, world enlargers, teleportation devices, alarm bots, stealth detectors, spell reflectors, epic pve goggles, good till the teir headpeice from 10kt, flying mounts, regular mounts, mail boxes, gnomish lightning generators, army knifes, wormholes, critter enlargers, goblin tonk controllers, seige damaging explosives, HAVE I CONVINCED YOU YET?

Anyway, I went with the standard herb/alchemy. With the obvious problem of knocking something before I try it, I couldn't imagine living without alchemy. I suppose I could possibly get to a point where I go alchemy and engineering, but right now is not the time as this is my first character and I am still saving for !@#$.
