Have one bear and the hunter specced BM. On the other hunter I think MM would be pretty good due to the increase in Volley damage making for faster group kills. Having another bear would work as well so you'd have a bunch of AoEing, or choose a tenacity pet with a suitable racial.

I will recommend after running a BM hunter to 80, that as soon as you can get a Gorilla as one of your guy's pets do so, they are better tanks than bears by far. and a little quicker than bears. But i do agree that a Tank/Dps is a great idea. Cats or Wolf either or.
Gorilla's are no longer the pet of choice for AoE. They lost Thunderstomp and got Pummel, a spell interrupt, instead. Bears have their normal swipe and can learn the Thunderstomp skill, making them the top AoE pets now.

Since they are just starting to level together, suggesting a Devilsaur isn't quite feasible. A bear and a wolf would be a good way to start out together. Turn off the growl on the wolf and turn off the cower on the bear.

I'm calling shenanigans on the Gorilla > Bear statement. I just finished leveling to 80, and I had to stable my Gorilla because it couldn't out-threat Volley on more than one target with Thunderclap. Bears swipe 3 targets in addition to Thunderclap, generating more threat on multiple targets.

Dont listen to all the wolf ppl.
Wolf is an end game pet not a lvling one, u will barely feel the AP bonus and half of the time it will be wasted between the pulls.
U should get some instant dmg pet I would say wasp or even wind serpent(not much diff between the families early on)
Tbh if ur both going bm u prolly wont even need a bear unless ur planning alot of aoeing, against single targets growl should do the trick.

by lvlin together, you should spec your hunters accordingly. one BM spec to improve tanking, one MM for imp dmg. Pulls should be MM pulls aggro on lots on enemies, group em, bear stomp, MM fd and volleys.
For the MM pet, any ferocity will do, but I go for hyena or somesuch to take out stragglers.
Later on, MM can respec SV for replenishment for less down time.

Thunderstomp is no longer their family skill. It's now a Tenacity tree skill that any Tenacity pet can get.
