Well im 100% a macro can't be triggered by someone hugging or targeting you, i dont know if it is possible with an add-on though, i've never heard of an add-on activating on hug.

well an addon can respond to events, so presumably you could have it check the chat window for the text "hugs you" and then do something in response, other than using spells, abilities, or items (like a "say" or an emote)
I know there's at least one addon out there that does "says" based on things that happen to you (like, it says "sapped" if you get sapped) but I don't know where it is...

Yes, addons can respond to emotes. But, they can't run any secure code as a response.
(Like cast spells or move or anything like that)
