Affliction dps on 3 or fewer targets

Ok so I hit 80 on my lock about 2 weeks ago,im deep affliction and am in need of some help.
I know in the grand scheme of things what i am going to ask is a silly question but how do i keep up my dps on trash pulls of 3 or less mobs? I do very well on large health single targets and aoe pulls of 4+ mobs but when it comes to smaller groups my dps plummets....
Is this just the nature of the affliction tree? What i try to do with pulls of 3 or less mobs is cast corruption and agony on all of them then rain of fire. This seems like a logical choice to me but it is still a substantial dps loss from the numbers ive been seeing.
Now I have 2 other level 80 toons so i do understand that with better dps in the group(5 mans) that my dots sometimes dont get that last tick in or only go for about half their duration, and especially with agony the biggest part of the damage is near the end.
Im just wondering if theres a better solution to small pulls for affliction than what ive been trying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

yeah, three is the worst for affliction locks. two is fine because you can get a full round of DoTs on both and four is great because you can get some excellent numbers on SoC but three... >.<
you're basically doing about right. RoF is the AoE of choice for only three mobs since seed doesn't damage the target leaving sub-par damage on only two mobs. you could maybe stand to lose some of the DoTs in those situations and get straight onto RoF. unless you see CoAs consistently running their full course they can certainly be dropped.
the usual advice applies though, "don't worry about trash damage, just boss damage" etc. etc.
i understand that it's not necessarily what you want to hear but affliction does do very nice damage on bosses and suffers less on movement fights than most specs.

Thanks asakawa for the response. I've read alot of your work on these forums and its good to see you responding to one of my questions :)
Ill keep working on each pull individually, seems i kind of need to log every pull of every instance in my mind and have a set rotation for each, modified by higher or lower dps in my group...which is fine i like to think stuff out like that lol.
