ok, at 58 you can enter outland. There is a small questline that starts right before you enter the portal located in blasted lands. This will get you to honor hold and started on more quest chains. If you go at 58, it might be a little tough at first, but there are enough quests to get you to 60.

I would go right at 58. The experience and gear are tons better than anything you'll be getting if you stay in kalimdor or eastern kingdoms. You need to go through the dark portal which is in the blasted lands in southern eastern kingdoms. Once you go through the portal you'll wind up in hellfire peninsula. If you do a search here for hellfire peninsula you'll find all the info you need. It's the starting zone for the outlands.

Does the same apply for NR? I'm 72 but still haven't finished Outland!

I disagree. The stuff you get in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord is much better than what you get in Outland. I made the mistake of waiting until 70 to go there with my first toon. With my alt, I went there when I got to 68.
Cheers.

I'm not in any particular rush to get to 80 or NR and I've only half of Netherstorm and then Shadow Valley in Outland left to do. I guess some dedicated time could clear these out the way then I'd probably hit NR at 74 (just about to pop 73)
