I'd think hard before you do that. Enhance is not as easy to gear as Elemental because most mail is designed for hunters (hard to get expertise) and it is difficult to find weapons.
The best way to gear up is probably to grab offspec items while raiding as your main spec. Since Hunters and other enhance shamans are not terribly common you may be able to pick up most of the combat-mail within a raiding instance. I know that my enhance offset (Resto mainspec) is naxx 25 quality from raiding for offspec gear/badges.
That being said, for the purpose of versatility and cost, it is probably advisable to stay ele/resto for a raid setting. Adding a melee dps to certain fights can be more of a liability then a good thing. Plus as an ele spec you can still use any of your restoration gear that does not have Mp5 on it.

Counting only mail gear, its far more difficult to gear an Elemental shaman. There is
zero
spell power + hit rating mail
, excluding PvP items.
Once you take into account Leather, Enhancement becomes even easier to gear for compared to Elemental, because there's plenty of
leather with expertise
, but still zero items with
spell power and hit rating
.
You can only gear spell power and hit by wearing cloth, but now you're rolling against Warlocks, Mages, Shadow Priests and the odd Druid. Good luck receiving that loot.

At the risk of stepping on some ele shammies' toes, your biggest change won't be in gearing but the change in style required to play your toon. You don't neccesarily require more skill, just a whole different set of skills you need to develop.
As melee, threat is a lot more unforgiving (130% threat margin for ranged), melee usually stacks behind a mob and is often targeted for those killer attacks (void zones, missiles etc.). Accidently stepping in front of a mob that cleaves and you're dead (or the tank repositioning a mob and he breaths on you). Enhancement shamans also have a much more involved rotation with careful prioritisation.
As I said, gear shouldn't be a problem. With 3 points in unleashed rage expertise is not hard to cap and hunters need hit as well so there's plenty of +hit gear to go around.
