The recruit-a-friend feature, with its free levels and fast experience gain, may seem like a nice thing at first glance.
It is, until you group with a mid-level player who is so clueless about the game, it makes you wonder if he really comprehends what is going on on the screen in front of him.
I was running through Zul'Farrak on my rogue, and
this guy joins the party. Everything seemed fine until I looked at his gear. This guy, who was level 45, was wearing level 5 greens and white-quality quest rewards, plus stuff with strength and agility on it. I, a level 41 rogue, was doubling his damage, and this in a dungeon where there are lots of AoE opportunities. This was likely due to the fact he was using rank 2 fireballs, etc.
It took me awhile to realize how this was possible, then it dawned on me that this was a result of someone using recruit-a-friend. Someone using this feature had created this.....person.
The capper of the Zul'Farrak run was when he need rolled on
The Chief's Enforcer saying it was an upgrade to his spirit and strength staff.
Right now there's a player riding around on a Zebra mount. Meanwhile, this poor, sad individual is blundering his way through the game, oblivious and confused. You can get mad, but ignorance of that magnitude is really punishment enough.

Naming and shaming isn't very nice.
Rather than /lol at people like that, maybe you should try guiding them into making right decisions?

Alright well for the longest time I had
these equipped until about level 60. I didnt bother upgrading them because I kept forgetting I was wearing them. They served me well and they still sit in my bank to this day as a token of how much I love this character and how fun my priest is to play.
Im on khadgar, character name is my forum name, just in case you guys want to see if I truly replaced them.
Yet right now I am one of my greatest healers in my guild and everyone in my level bracket calls me if they need a healer.
