I recently capped my Druid at 70,
since I don't have WotLK yet
(and can't afford it for a little while), and I've been thinking of trying out something new. The problem is everything I've tried has been rather dull compared to Druid.
I've played Rogue extensively, into the late fifties. Same goes for Hunter. So I'm not too keen on playing those again, despite the fact that I love both classes. But I also have such distaste for casters and having to drink and and rest. Playing Druid has spoiled me since I have absolutely no downtime. I've been thinking about trying Paladin, but last I played Paladin it was super boring and relied heavily on simple auto-attack with some minor input by the player.
I was also thinking about trying a Dread Knight again but playing that as Unholy spec was really dull too
, since I was just doing the same routine over and over again.
I guess what I'm trying to find is a class that has as much variation and variability in playstyle as Druid does. I can tank, I got stealth, I can heal, I can toss on a few debuffs/buffs, not all at once, but all in a decent capacity. Unfortunately, I don't think there is one, so maybe I'm just kind of screwed since I played Druid first :P
Does mana management become less of a headache later in the game? I know on the Mage and Warlock I got to around 20 or so, it was a huge burden.
I'm assuming you meant Death knight, and how did you play that if you don't even have the expansion?

Leveling any character before lvl 20 is tedious. When you get past 20 and maybe even 40 it gets more and more fun, in my experience.
Paladins are nice, but REALLY booring untill 20-25. Altho druids are about the same at those levels, and you obviously got past that.
Else try shaman. They play a bit like rouges, only without the stealth and with more armour.

Beastmastery is the way to go for leveling a hunter. Altho with the tenacity pets, im pretty sure you can wail away with an MM spec also. Try it, it wont hurt you. As of rouges, i know just about nothing.

Mages, once they get ice barrier, are the funnest, easiest levelers ever. Seriously, the frost tree was MADE to make leveling cake.
The cake is a lie.
And once you get ice lance? This is your basic pull. Frost bolt until FoF proc or until they're close enough to frost nova (if they survive that long) deep free, click ice lance once or twice TOPS and they're dead.
I seem to be lucky with FoF and it always procced on the 3rd or 4th frostbolt.
Plus frost is hugely mana efficient.
I recommend just sticking it out with the mage, you'll enjoy it much, much more in the later levels.

With frost you don't drink. You evocate and if you roll BE mage, arcane torrent.
Be an alch as well and you'll literally never drink. I had a friend who leveled from 30-55 without "drinking" once.
The 4 minute evocation CD is really nice. Glyph it and you'll never eat either.
The only pain is the first 20 levels or so, but those are always a pain
But now it'll be even less of a pain because with 3.2, mounts are available at lvl 20.
Mage seems like your cup of tea.
