I've played almost all classes EXCEPT for hunters. I've never really pvp'd...only raid.
How are hunters in pvp? Can they burst well? Do they survive well? How do they fare against plate?
In general, can you give me a quick rundown of hunters in pvp?

In PvP, hunters are one of the most difficult classes to master. We are the only class that has to be at a certain range to damage our opponents. But, Blizzard has given us a few tools we can use to keep us at range.
Disengage: Leap backwards. Very effective, but your timing is very important. Try to use it after a death grip and dont open up with it. The best way is to jump and spin around quickly (with your mouse) and leap backwards. This almost always confuses them for a brief moment.
Frost Trap: Nothing like a static patch of slow to help you out. This is probably one of your most effective tools for kiting.
Wing Clip: Not as good as it used to be, but you can macro this to raptor strike for some extra damage. if you ever get in melee range, wing clip.
Concussive Shot: Same as wing clip, only from far away. if you can keep classes from getting close, you can put out more damage.
basically, any spec is viable in PvP and if you know what you're doing you can take down just about anything. the burst isnt as good as most plate wearers (which, doesnt really make sense when you think about it) but you put out steady steams of it.

Here's what I would think would be most helpful for leveling:
Leveling minor glyphs:
level 15: Add Mend Pet
level 50: add Revive Pet to 2nd minor slot
level 70: add Feign Death to 3rd minor slot
Leveling major glyphs:
level 15: Add Glyph of Mending to the first Major slot
Level 30: Add Glyph of Arcane Shot to the 2nd Major slot
level 40: BM replace Arcane Shot with Bestial Wrath
MM will probably still do best with Arcane Shot
You don't get the last Major slot until 80, when you'll want to convert to an instance/raid setup.
Survival Hunters should replace Glyph of Arcane Shot with Glyph of Explosive Shot once they get it.
