Question about quests turning green

Hey folks!
Just as the title suggests, I have come to wonder about what happens to experience gains for green quests:
When you do a quest, that was already green for you, do you gain less xp compared to when you would have done it while it was yellow?
Well, this is just another version of it: If you accept a quest while it was yellow, but unfortunately only manage to turn it in wehn it becomes green, do you gain comparatively less xp?
By the way, I did research here in the forums and with Google, but I could not find anything clear that would answer my questions.
Personally, I would say that a quest that is green is just an indicator that it is already low-lvl and that you should do another, but the experience gained does not changed until it becomes gray.
Thank you for any confirmation or information.

Quests will reward the same amount of experience, no matter what color.
However as a percentage of the experience you need to get to the next level, it will be lower.

If the quest is gray however the XP is much lower than if it was green. One of my addons actually shows the XP you would gain if you completed a gray quest.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe every quest awards a fixed amount of xp...
Example:

you are wrong. walk over there and talk to that guy doesnt yield as much as killing Ony.
The colors are indicators of "hardness". like with your trades.
I believe that red quests are 2+ levels above you , yellow are 1, and greens are your level or easier, and gray ones are more than 3 levels below you.
You get the Most XP fro the red ones in theroy. it's like getting rewarded as a 53 when you are only 50. so it's a lot more, based on your level. if you were 53, and it were green, it wouldnt make as big a dent in your bar.
actually - it's all

The wowwiki link makes sense, but your argument doesn't.
Surely there has to be some kind of gain if you complete a lvl 40 quest at level 79, since lvl 80 isn't giving you financial compensation for it, right? I will investigate this chart, as I am almost certain that even completing low level quests under the level cap rewards some kind of xp, even if it is miniscule
If it doesn't, well....I guess you learn something every day.

yeah. Okay. Let me explain this a different way.
Think of the XP as a percent of your level. (These numbers are just fro explanation only, and do not really represent actual numbers or ratios)
Same quest at level 50 (sure... why not) a quest is worth, say 50K xp.
if the quest is:
Red: it would earn you 30% of xp to level
Orange: 25%
Yellow: 20%
Green: 15%
Gray: 5% or less
That is why it "Seems" like it's more xp, because of the % earned towards your level. Yes, the actual Amount is the same, but the Effect towards you level is very different.
That clear things up, I hope?
