The only "real" nerf I see in priest is
"Prayer of Healing: The percentage of spell power this spell gains in healing (per target) has been reduced from 80.7% to 52.6%."
The penance thing will be the same as it was be4 3.1.3 - With Aspirtation it was 8 secs cast time then, now with glyph+aspirtation 8 secs too... ofc its a bit of a nerf from 6.4 (currently) to 8 secs but we've to see it was a huge boost since Penance is the strongest healing spell in entire game...
Ofc Holy Paladins will always have more healing output than we do but remember our main job is damage mitigation on tank (considering you're talking Disc vs Pally, cause I consider Holy mainly AoE healer)...
PS: In my Opinion changes in Inspiration and Ancestral Healing are for the better since 10% damage reduction (I guess it includes spell damage) is a little better than armor increasing

But just remember, they could have just not introduced the penance glyph and freed us a major slot rather than nerfing it and keeping the glyph.

theres not many options in glyphs for Priest
Penance Glyph is a must, way better than flash heal, PW: S, Renew or anything else you could remind of...
Even in 3.1.3 its a must - Each Penance does an average of 10k heal (1 crit at least per penance) which is almost instant because 1.6 secs (with Enlightement) is almost nothing - plus the DA procs...
Penance is just OP and we can't complain about it^^ 6.4 secs was just too awesome, we could spam it whenever it was off CD without going OOM and doing awesome heals...
I don't blame Blizz at all for this nerf, ofc it nerf us rly badly... but we were way OP so we're a bit less OP (but still the best MT healers in my opinion^^), does it matter?

What matters to me is that they wasted a major glyph slot rather than left penance as it was without the glyph pre-3.1.

Now, what was a real "huge" nerf was the change they did to Rapture in the previous patch(es), but ... well, we kinda-sorta needed that nerf, spamming heals non-stop without using any mana was a joke.
Sounds suspiciously like a paladin.

Exactly, it seems like all the changes for penance were pointless when we are now back on square one.

You all act as if Blizzard had a Master Plan to treat Penance as they did over the last few months.
Imagine, if you will, that the way 3.2 is structured is the way it always had been. Then, instead of losing some delicious cookie, you're looking at a different baseline behavior. Ok, so disc does have a largely required glyph (just like shadow, holy, and like many other classes & specs). Are there worse things that could have happened? Heckyeah.
Don't get me wrong; it's a nerf fair & square. But please keep the "slap in the face" rhetoric in the mage forums. Go read all the priesty love in the "Priesty McPreisterson" thread we just had going, then take a deep breath. And another, if you need one. You'll be fine. We all will.

Sigh, I would much rather have Penance increase crit chance than have the upcoming Penance nerf, but it really isn't a big deal. Penance will be on an 8s CD instead of a 6.4s; that's only an additional 1.6s....
I was also under the impression that the changes to Inspiration read "10% reduced physical damage" (taken from both the blue post on
mmo-champion
and our very own
wowhead
). The blue post reads, "Inspiration now Reduces your target's physical damage taken by 3/7/10% instead of increasing its armor by 8/16/25%."
I can also understand the reduction in bh to CoH. With the haste changes in 3.1 this spell went from a slow cast to enjoy-your-big-heal-with-a-short-cast-spell!

if you look across the board of healer nerfs, you will notice that shamans didn't get much in the way of nerfs to there main spells. However, druids and disc priests did.
Unfortunately, the penance change was a PvP one, nothing to do with PvE. Sucks huh?

Penance in PvP...gotta love it! I thoroughly enjoy coming in late on a dual in BGs, shielding my target as he's at >10% hp, casting Penance > PoM > and whatever else I need to do to top him off. The poor hordie was doing so good at killing him, but by the time he burns through my shield he faces a refreshed and well groomed enemy...and if your by yourself, good luck killing me.
