If the problem still persists, you can verify that your hardware is fine by doing this:
- Click Start
- Type "cmd" without the quotes
- Type "dxdiag" without the quotes in the command prompt that appeared
A window will pop up which will ask you if you'd like to check certificates for validation, you can click yes or no, it doesn't matter. Select the "Display" tab and you should see a list at the bottom which will display errors with your graphics hardware.
Should it be fine, you may want to consider re-installing your graphics drivers, with fresh graphics drivers, if it happens again, you can chock it up to WoW. In this case, it would be beneficial to bring the error to Blizzard's attention, and see if they can further isolate your problem, since programs do not just white-out without good reason to.
... Unfortunately, I do not have enough experience with the WoW install and client to be of detailed help.
Ok I did that, and it said everything's fine. No problems detected.
One thing that could have happened is if you play wow at a different screen resolution than what you use on your desktop - when WoW crashed out (for what ever reason) the screen didn't enlarge/change back to it's normal size.
I have had something similar happen with games that would crash out and had different gamma/brightness settings than my desktop.
And what he was saying about the icons... sometimes when your windows desktop resolution changes it will auto-align the icons back to having them all in order on left side. Just like you had right-clicked to arrange them yourself.
That's interesting. It did actually change screen resolution. It looks normal now (way it used to be). I've always had it at 1280 x 768 and it somehow got changed to 1024 x 768. Hence the stretched out look.
Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again?
