I would tell your dps at the begingin of the Heroic that they need to wait a few seconds for you to build rage and aggro before going nuts. If they dont listen, and pull aggro remind them once more. If they do it again let them die , maybe they will learn.
Mark the primary target with skull, I always open with a swipe and then maul/mangle on my main target throwing in swipes as I can. Tab between all the mobs in the pack to get aggro on them and then back to the main. Once youe have a good aggro lead on yourmain target dont forget to switch between the other mobs to keep the aggor in a aoe heavy group. If any are focus firing on anything other than skull then its not really your fault. Correct them and if they dont adjust there behavior kick them from the group.
Also if your running with players that are outgearing you by a lot , then you are gonna have issues till you get better gear, you are just gonna have to keep working on maximizing your tps. Other than that I dont have much in the way of suggestions as it looks liuke you know what you are supposed to do .

What I'm wondering is what your hit and expertise are as that was the mistake I made when I switched to feral. Once I upped those stats my threat generation skyrocketed and swipe + Maul became more than enough for me to tank those 4-5 person mobs. Or sometimes 2 of those 4-5 person mobs (not intentionally i swear ^.^ )

Swipe produces additional threat! It's not listed in the tooltip but a few patches ago Swipe got a big threat boost.
I never had any problems holding AoE aggro with Swipe alone.
Ofc it will not be enough to hold aggro on the main target. That's why you mark the main target, use Mangle and Maul on it and let Swipe take care of all the rest. As soon as it's dead you go to the secondary target (which should also be markted!) and Mangle/Maul there, continuing to Swipe when Mangle is on cooldown.
Use Faerie Fire often (it also has a HUGE bonus threat component) and Enrage before every pull (so that you start with some rage). Use growl and feral charge often (gowl every time you lose threat on the marked target which should only ever happen in the first few seconds and only if the dps are too fast, feral charge to open the fight or to intercept mobs that go for the healer).
And as mentioned before: Remind your dps to give you a second to build threat.

I'm wondering is what your hit and expertise are
THIS.
Make sure to stay above 5% hit and 7-8% expertise if you really want to be a good TPS machine for heroic dungeons. Otherwise your DPS members will hate you.
Once you move to raiding, I suggest at least 6% hit and 10% expertise, as lvl 83 raid bosses have usually ~10% (often higher) parry chance. After you have decent values of hit and expertise you can start looking at alternative gearing options (with more haste and crit - also agility) to boost your threat generation.
Talking about method, there ain't much to discuss about AoE tanking. If the group is all melee mobs, use Faerie Fire on main target and then press Maul. That way, once the mobs reach you, your first auto attack will be a 2 target Maul. After that, it's usually enough to spam Swipe / Maul. Tab every 2.5 seconds if you want your Mauls landing all over the place.
If there is at least one ranged mob, then open with Faerie Fire on secondary target, then charge the ranged mob and start the same procedure: Maul + Swipe.
Tip: Use Enrage right before you charge, since your first hit (and the first 2-3 hits you'll get from mobs) will generate enough rage to perform a Swipe anyway. After that you'll have the advantage of 6-7 seconds with +15% damage done if you have the King of the Jungle talent (which I consider to be a nice TPS boosting tool). Maul + Swipe with 15% damage bonus are nothing to sneeze at.
In the end, as others have said, if your DPS are too trigger happy, tell them to wait 2-3 seconds. Or let them die if they overaggro because they are careless.

When I do heroics, I usually start off without marking. If I notice someone pulling as people just kill whatever they want (nobody knows how to assist, it's just a given, I've come to accept it), then I start by adding a skull to my targets before I pull. If they keep doing it afterward,
then
I start to remind them to kill the skull first.
Usually, though, adding a mark to your primary target is enough to bring people in line and un-scatter the DPS. I'm sure it's arguably better overall, as well, to have a good kill order, but in heroics it really doesn't matter most times, anymore, and I usually don't have those threat problems with people who are still running heroics anyway.
