Getting into tier 4 and, then, Tier 6 pose big problems for me so I will post my thoughts on the questionable talents. Hopefully, I am not going over something covered a thousand times. I've seen the cookie cutters, but without knowing WHY they are cookie cutters in certain aspects, I will never learn.
ArmoryMaster of Deception: I never really thought about this because I've had it basically since L10 as it was the first thing I ever put points into. Currently 72 and I am unsure about the benefits of this especially since I Shadowstep a lot (re: not even near most of my targets in the first place). On the other hand, I do enjoy being able to solo run certain dungeons for some quick cash (pickpocketing, etc) and I suppose it has helped me run from an 80 or two, but the main question is if it is worth three points?
Sleight of Hand: I've just come around on Feint and now use it often, especially when in a PUG and I am unsure of how good the tank is. It doesn't seem like 20% is too useful since I can't recall the last time I popped feint and the mob kept attacking me. As for the reduction in critical strike(s), is it me or does 2% seem like nothing. I feel as though if I have to worry about 2% of an opponent's crits, I am going to lose anyway because I am doing it wrong. As far as I am concerned, as a fully-specced subtlety rogue, the only thing you should be worried about after the initial attack is not the prospect of getting critted to death, but who is next. Is this a fair assessment?
Dirty Tricks: Five yards sure sounds nice. The energy doesn't seem to concern me too much because it seems useless; with sap & blind, I have plenty of time to regain my energy and/or run like hell. However, would this talent become more useful if I don't take Master of Deception, and vice-versa? If their ability to see me goes up with MoD, wouldn't it be prudent to be able to incapacitate them from further away? Likewise, would I need to worry about Dirty tricks if I have three bonus levels of stealth?
Ghostly Strike: OK, what is the story with this? It seems half the rogues deep into subtlety love it while the other half thinks it is pointless. Obviously nice to use when also using Evasion. I currently have it and constantly forget to use it or keep smashing it when it is on cooldown. I tried a macro with my base attack and because of the weird way the timer works, it was all screwed up.
Setup: I am pretty much getting rid of this, but I didn't want to do it without explaining why as maybe it will open my eyes on Setup or some other mechanic of the game. As I said in Sleight of hand, it seems if I am worrying about crap like dodging and an opponent's crits, I am either about to die or doing something terribly wrong.
Serrated Blades: Not going with hemo, so I don't need the three points. That aside, is the amount of armor ignored a lot? I don't even know. I admit that I don't use Rupture as much as I should.
Enveloping Shadows: I would assume this isn't so hot considering, using the same logic as earlier, if I am getting attacked from afar, I'm in trouble.
Thanks for putting up with my rambling. Let me know if you need more information or my home address so you can smack me upside my head.
