it would make game play easier for group leaders and guild masters.
I'd disagree with that.
If my Fury Warrior -- already somewhat novelty in raids -- got split into, say, a dual-1h-wielding Shout/Buff dps'er and a dual-2h-wielding dps machine, they'd be even more perplexed.

Just 'cus it works for other games does not mean it works for WoW.

Dual-class worked in Neverwinter Nights... would it work in WoW?

OP: The problem I see with this idea is that every MMORPG that I've played that has branching classes like you're talking about ends up broken. We've all seen how well Blizzard has done at balancing 10 classes, and what you're talking about, the way I understand it, basically there would be like 30-60 classes, if you have 2 classes per talent tree. PvP would be a mess. In PvE, Min/Maxxers would force anyone that wanted to raid into a specific set of classes, meaning that if you aren't one of X classes, you aren't coming. Basically, it would take any sort of true customization out of the game.
I think that the 10 classes with 3 trees each works just fine (not to be read as balanced). It allows everyone at least a degree of customization and tweaking. It may not be a perfect system, but it's better than most I've tried.
