Hi all,
I started playing wow about a month before WotLK came out and I hit 80 on my pally 1 hour before the midnight release. since then I have devoted my character to tanking. I have min maxed everything and tried to find every item in this game that would help me be a better tank. I was the GM of a raiding guild on my server and we 75% got through Ulduar 25, but it was taking up way to much of my time. So I stepped down and now just play every once in a while.
Long story short! I need some tips for PVP.
-Spec.
-Pvp Hit cap.
-Glyph advice.
-Simple rotation
Now before I get trolled out by people that say “read the stickies” and “read the forums”.....I have, but its really confusing to a person who has never PVP besides wintergrasp and knows nothing about pvp hit caps. Just asking for some tips from people if they want to reply
Any help I could get would be appreciated.
Thank you in advanced
Hat

First comment - congratulations on finishing Ulduar!
Second comment - no, first question - would you rather PvP as Prot or Ret?
Second question - when you say PvP, do you mean Arena or BGs?

I would rather PVP as ret. I have done some BG's before where my guild healers and I have had fun simply because in my raiding gear fully buffed i have 47K health, lol. Thanks to dual spec I will hold on to my PVE prot spec and have fun with that when I want to.
To answer your question, I'm looking for Ret PVP that is good for Arena's that I could then use in BG's but it doesn't need to be speciallized for BG's. I was thinking of doing a 3v3 team down the road.
Cheers,

Ok, I can't help with that ^^;;
I'd vouch for the Prot PvP build though, where you stack Str and burst using Shield of Righteousness. Plus, you get to keep a goodly amount of that huge health pile and invulnerability from your talents.
Generally though, there's no rotation to speak of. It's all about timing your stuns / Repentance and bursting the right target at the right time.
No real hit cap - a good amount is nice (~200 or thereabouts), to reduce the chance of your CC missing, but you're never going to be hit capped, since you never know what you'll face. You'd know very well that against a well-geared PvE tank, more than half the attacks would just slide straight off. Same principle applies to any class that has 'reduce chance of being hit' - night elves generally, for example.
Just my two cents.

>_< yup fail typing. I meant 70. Been dealing with 80's so much recently thats the only number that my fingers type these days.
I have made the following spec for myself. Anyone see anything wrong with it?

I'd definitely want to take imp Hammer of Justice, and max out Judgments of the Wise. The stun is one of your best utilities, and the mana regen from judgments of the wise will pretty much be the sole thing keeping your blue bar full ;)
Imp Righteous Fury is also better damage reduction than Toughness, since it can help reduce spell damage, and you won't be weighing in with nearly as much armor as your tank spec.
If I'm not mistaken you'd want to be maxing out Heart of the crusader as well. You can probably take points out of Swift Retribution and imp Blessing of Might (Kings is the best overall pvp blessing to my knowledge).

To SmileyTPB and Decimater: ---- Thank you for the specing changes and the gereral PVP tips. I will definatly keep them in mind tonight.
To zw4512 ---- It looks like I would need to change out alot of my gems and enchants on my PVE prot gear if I wanted to for with the "prot dps" pvp style. Maybe down the road when I'm not tanking as much I might try this, but i have made a bit of a name for myself on the server and am hired out to tank anything from raids to starting heroics, so my tanking days are long from done.
I changed the spec around a little bit and put some more points into those stuns. I can't seem to max out the Judgements of the wise tho.
Here is what I have so far.
