On the subject of new classes, The heros should be able to do something.

Warlocks can summon people, make health stones, let the healer self rez, off tank with a demonogly talent or with a void walker, give a group buff with imp, cc with fear and succubus, not to mention banish is getting buffed next patch,
Mages have a ton of crowd control-Frost nova, frost bolt non glyphed, Frost talents, Polymorph, Frostfire even when glyphed I am pretty sure.. they can open portals and make free food and water, at some brackets both in one.
Rogues the famed "Dps only" Can pick locks in case no one did the scholomance key quest or were too lazy to complete Library as well as Sap and distract mobs to slow down fights, not to mention stuns and armor reduction.
Hunters can trap, off tank with pet, misdirect, and with misdirect pull from a shocking 41 yards with talents vs 30 yards for any tank.
Warriors can Shout and fear foes. a talent for a daze shout, and remove an immune effect.
Paladins have a stun and a talent for a one minate long version of gouge. and can make a party member immune to phyiscal damage or momvent imparing effects.
priests can MIND CONTROL, shackle undead, and area of effect fear. as well as sooth humanoids.
Shamans have frost shock, earth elemental totem, grounding totem,heck a long list of totems.
Druids are the kings of doing a lot of stuff. They can tank in bear, stun in cat, stun in bear, root in caster or boomkin, sleep beasts and dragonkin, as well as sooth them. they can knock people up in the air, they can do a ton of utlitly.
Death knights... what they really bring to the table that has not be grounded before us is hysteria in blood, Glyph of rune tap but thats sorta already here, and Anti magic zone. The only thing they brought was a new type of tank. Anti magic tanks which warriors kinda already can do.
Why can't we get some new classes that I don't know can do some stuff that our already existing classes can't really do to mix it up abit, And please don't go "But they has teh ruinic power and runes" Combo points and energy only refined to fit a death knight.

There's no reason hero classes should bring something unique to the table based on the reason that they start at level 55 when the other classes start at 1.

I must not have been clear: the way I read the OP's statement is that hero classes should have something unique because they're "hero" classes.
However, hero classes are only called that way because they start at level 55. Thus, it is like asking for something unique based solely on the fact that you start at level 55.
When Blizzard will implement heroes that are called heroes because they're effectively stronger than the regular classes, then it will be a solid basis for bringing something absolutely awesome and unique.

I don't think the fact that they start at level 55 was ever mentioned as a reason for having something unique.
Though being called a "Hero" class I would say does give a reason for bringing something unique to the table.
Yes but even though they start at 55, once you hit 80 the classes are on level ground.

I do not get what you are saying. Deathknights have a ton of unique and awesome skills, they have their own uber weapon enchants, great anti-magic skills, and unique snares/closers.
Frankly it appears you are just complaining about a class that you have not fully mastered yet, so it should be even more stupidly good. If it weren't for the fact that the class is incredibly overused, it would probably be more appreciated.

Hero class = Warcraft heroes has it and that's all you can draw from the name "hero class".
In this case Arthas. That's all. Arthas was awesome before his fall, the only reason he's awesome now. You can make him a baker or hairdresser and he'd still be awesome. Has nothing to do with the class.
On the topic of a new hero class I'd prefer something ranged. But sadly the remaining heroes that I can think of, who are ranged, are simply one of the already available classes. At least if you're willing to call a ranger a hunter, which it is.
As for bringing something new to the game I'd go with one of these five:
a) Battle mage. A combo of melee and mage. Also known as what's currently a shaman.
b) Lich. Also known as a frost spec death knight.
c) Demon hunter.. A rogue with warglaives of Azzinoth.
d) Beastlord aka hunterdruid.
e) Tinker = engineer, only competent enough to make stuff that works. Such as Dr. Boom!

What Do Death Knights Bring to the Table?
Rune of Razorice
- Extra Frost damage taken, by up to 10%
- Attack Speed reduction
Death Grip
- Taunt + mob movement. Combined with Chains of Ice, it's a very efficient way to get a mob away from the casters and keep it there.
Mind Freeze
- Interrupt
Chains of Ice
- Snare
Strangulate
- Silence
Path of Frost
- Massive waterwalk
- Powerful buff
Raise Ally
- A minor form of rez, allowing an ally to continue DPSing
Army of the Dead
- Good damage dealer
- AoE snare
- Powerful buff
- Another powerful buff
- Extra magic damage taken
Anti-Magic Zone
- Powerful magic protection spell
Of course, a single DK cannot bring all of those. But it's far from nothing.

***HERO CLASS*** implies that the class is moderately over powered. The class is stronger than most other classes. AND do you know how difficult it is to create something with a new playstyle when the combat engine is built around Dps aggro, heal aggro, health sustenance, and mana/energy/rage/focus/runic? If you make something completely different, blizzard would have to rework the entire game to allow something like that to fit. It's not easy work kid.

Unless the new class added a whole new element to the game besides dps, heal and tank.
It's no secret that all mmo's borrow a little something from the others, so I'd like to see an entertainer, dedicated crafting class or trader/merchant. Even if it's not OP, you can't rule out that you'd have a char with those classes.

Ok ok let me explain what I meant,
Hero classes should be heroic in a sense that they bring auras and such, Buffs that we don't really have covered.
Or at least do something that no other class can do in any way shape and or form.
