Suggestion: get an offtank/dps warrior do it for you if you MT, so you don't need to take it.
In 3.2, paladins will have a sort of demo shout too if I'm not mistaken, and as powerful as the improved version of ours.

I was just discussing this with a feral tank last night. Unfortunately, it seems, 5/5 Demo shout is necessary for the full effect. It might be worth picking up another character to cover the buff.
edit: I meant to link the source

yes, you do need 5/5 to get the full AP reduction, and it does make quite a difference on progression fights.
for most of the standard attacks, i think i remember reading it's a good 5% less damage taken compared to unimproved demo. however, some bosses have attacks that scale based on their AP, so if you take their AP to zero (which 5/5 demo does), those attacks hit MUCH softer.
GC had a blue post saying it was worth something like a 50% reduction on thorim's unbalancing strike.

I don't think of it as part of a tank's rotation. When a tank uses TC and Demo shout, it's because nobody else does, but someone has to. When a DPS/offtank does it, the MT gains two more GCD for threat moves.
Now, threat is not always an issue, but in some fights it is, and that's when it's useful to allow the MT to make as many threat moves as possible instead of debuffing. Well he can keep using TC because it is also a minor threat move, but the DPS/offtank should definitely be using Demo shout.

I became very interested in this idea when I saw it the other day. So I decided to try it out this is the spec
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LAMZGVZVItrx0zidczsGo:dcbMcm
that I just spec'd into. I'll let yall know how it goes. My only issue with it like that lack of impale and deep wounds, but I didnt feel comfortable stripping down the prot talents to work those in. whats yalls thoughts on the spec?
You took Imp Heroic Strike (3 rage off of Heroic Strike), but did not take any points in Focused Rage (3 rage off every ability).
2/2 Imp Charge is not worth taking if you aren't going further in the tree. Put those points into either CD reduction in Prot, or in Cruelty.
For 3.2, I'm thinking of one of two specs. With Devastate damage doubling, I think I can drop Impale and Deep Wounds and stay about the same or better in threat.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LVZhiZVItrx0didIzsGo:dcT
This would be if there are cooldown fights where I need 2 minute shield walls.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LAZhiZmItrx0zidIzsGo:dco
This would be if I don't need the fast shield walls, so a bit more rage savings from Imp Heroic Strike.
And then of course the standard 15/5/51 (or maybe 15/3/53 with 4 points in Shield Spec) if I feel I don't need the Imp Demo.
