If you're at 450, you can learn smelt titansteel
Also, as long as you can mine in Outland, you can do Jewelcrafting. Once you hit 300, all of your skillups come from cutting gems, which are pretty cheap to get in the auction house. But BC gems aren't really there anymore in decent quantities, so you'll probably still prospect Outland ore, but 375-450 is cake from the auction house. Do your JC dailies and get recipes for cheap gems. Resell the cuts on the AH and make money (like cheap Forest Emeralds. Buy them raw, cut to Enduring Forest Emerald, and resell at the raw cost + 5g).

JC is relatively easy to level after 300 but getting to 300 is a pain, if you're farming the ores/gems yourself you can expect to be bored for a week or two depending on dedication/attention span, if like me you have more gold then sence you can get from 1-450 in as little as 5 hours (providing the AH is prime.. but that depends on you're server) I myself spent a total of 2.3k to get to 400, from there on I just leveled cutting gem's for the raid and using the
Icy Prism
(will still be yellow even at 450 lol...That's if I remember correctly)
Also, little tip for you, DONT spend hours mining copper/tin/iron etc etc.. head strait to silithus (cant spell it but it's the place they filmed starship troopers) invade the hive's and mine ooze covered thorium, sell that and buy what you need (or if you prefer to fly and compete.. just farm saronite)..
