-getting your profession buffs without rep grinding, recipe farming, or spending a lot of gold?
-making steady gold without having to play the AH too much?
-leveling cheaply?
I need a second profession to go with mining and I don't just want to get one based on how imbalanced it is right now... *cough* jewelcrafting. So, which profession do you think is best for each reason I mentioned?
p.s. I'm a mage who does mostly pvp, if that make's any difference.

Yeah but it doesnt fit 2/3 of his points.
Engy is not cheap and doesnt make gold.
Go with Inscription.
It is cheap, do make gold, and save you to farm Sons of Hodir rep.

for first point, gathering comes to mind first but farming is spending a lot of time - lost opportunity cost - so there is no profession which meet this goal.
for second point - this is a silly goal as craftign profession using AH makes the most gold and takes very little time. to make gold w/o using AH try dailies or farming instances for better gold/hour results.
for third point - see first point which included "or spending a lot of gold?"
for pvp engineering and any other profession but j/c, tailor, mining, herb come to mind for spell power, haste or health buff
