My Death Knight - Some Questions

Hi Guys,
I've been 80 for a while now on my Death Knight but I was wondering if you guys could send me in the right direction advice wise?
I read a lot on the wowhead and elitist jerks forums and I have some and let me state firstly I'm trying to get into raiding, but noone will let me into naxx 10, I either have to link achievement or get told I don't meet their gear requirements on a "gear check".
Here is my armory -
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dragonblight&n=Lifeknight
I have blue trinkets but EJ listed these so I followed that.
I am going to change my gemming (more +16 Strength Gems) but as the market value of them have increase significantly (2.5x over the past week) I'm waiting to snag them at a cheaper price point.
I guess I should look at getting a shoulder enchant from hodir (which I will probably do tonight when I get home) but is there anything that really is stopping me from entering a raid and doing decent dps?
Are there any must run heroics and lewt I can't live without? normally I end up using my tank character for heroics out of desperation, and I haven't done as many on this character.
Also should I change my spec? Am I more suited to a spec which is more gear friendly? if so are there any suggestions?
I appreciate your time and consideration on this topic and look forward to your replies :)

ok you may be failing gear checks, because you have several pieces of PvP gear, your shoulders, belt, and bracers. I'm not sure about the shoulders, but you can get a good dps epic belt in H Nexus
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37171
and the bracer can be replaced by
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37668
in H Halls of Stone.
as for spec you actually look pretty good, in my opinion, but I would suggest getting rid of Dirge and Improved unholy pressence and put them either in dark conviction or in Necrosis. I would also suggest getting rid of ghould frenzy, but that is my personal preferance, you may be able to use it well in your rotation.

Yeah, I know I have a few pieces of pvp gear, I'm using them as place holders as I'm very unlucky when it comes to groups I either suffer the "ohwell I'll go logon my tank" or just non existant useful drops lol >.<
I stole my spec from
here
and it's a good starter build.
I had one raid tell me I needed to buy the badge sigil but I read somewhere on elitist jerks you're better off with the starter sigil until you can get the sigil of awareness(?) in naxx.
But you reckon if I fix my pvp gear that someone will accept me?
Cheers, and thanks for the help!

If they want you to change your sigil I would suggest going to grizzly hills and doing the Venture bay dailies, in a day or two you can easily get
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40875
, it effective till you can get arthritic bindings, and only takes a few minutes to get if you do all the dailies

and for naxx i would see if you can change to a blood spec. since the boss fights are more single target and thats were blood really shines.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your responses!
@213238 - Pants where my first epic so I gemmed for hit cap, if you look at my first post I mentioned I was in the process of upgrading my gems to +16 strength ones (the problem is they've gone from being 24g to nearly 112g per gem and I'd rather not fork out the extra atm).
I might give blood a whirl, it's nothing that a respec can't fix :) - is
this
a good spec?
I have got the shoulder enchant and am waiting till I replace my shoulders.
Is it really worth swapping an epic necklace for another epic necklace given that I am not fully epiced yet (and could spend the gold on epic rings instead)?
Thanks for your help

Besides the Stoneforge bracers from H HoS,
Vengeance Bindings
is also a pretty great craftable to help you start gearing up for raids
Is it really that great an upgrade though? Considering all I would be gaining is 3 strength and 23 hit.
On a related note, once I get a group for HoL I can get
this
to replace my savage saronite shoulders, which will be ok until I can get a drop or revered with Hodir (whichever comes first), atleast I can be guaranteed those shoulders.
EDIT:
Gems were abit cheaper this evening so I fixed the gemming issue. I have also enchanted my shoulders in the interim of me getting an upgrade.

Just noting that if the raid has a Shadow Priest or Moonkin, you're over the hit cap.

Well to get picky I'm 56 hit rating over the cap considering I only need 8% in the first place (I'm sat on 9.73%). So regardless of raid makeup I'm over the 8% threshold.

Once you are over it's okay to be over a bit more, because that will help your spells get spell hit. I am at 11.76 percent in hit rating, but that's due to gear and not design. Sometimes you just end up that way. You are on the right track, so keep it up. Read the stickies, and keep asking questions.

El, he's potentially over the spell hit cap too. that's why I mentioned if there was a Spriest or Moonkin. He has 12.5% spell hit plus virulence.

lol, yeah that's a bit too much. I like to sit around 9 percent but 12.5 is crazy.

LOL I have not actually tried to get heaps of hit it just seems to accumulate really easily. I was thinking of doing some pvp for the +AP and the +Crit rating trinket or would I be better getting a pvp ring with hit to replace my Kurzel's Rage? I know pvp =/= pve but it would seem the cheapest way of replacing it.
What about the gloves from H VH are they worth trying for?
Assuming I have some idea on how to play a death knight how much dps do you think I should be able to do. Yes I know that's what a training dummy is for but it's nice to have an estimate to make sure I'm not doing anything too wrong! :)
Cheers
