ok... This Norway mass killer
blames video games
? Now it is personal.
I friggin knew it.
Ugh; why the hell is it always the video games/heavy metal/books? Seriously, can't it actually be the person for once and not his environment? You? Preaching personal responsibility? LOL. This won't last long. Although I agree with what you are saying, at heart, you usually disagree when someone must be held personally responsible and feel that it is environment fault. Abortion? Death Penalty? Jihadist?Which will end when they die of old age, so we're almost out of the "ewww- video games" era, I think.
Personally, I think the problem is the vocal minority of the older generations refusing to learn about the culture of the young and decide to brand it as evil instead.
They still write our laws.

Jihadist?Um...what? You know how I feel in regards to Abortion, that's it the mother/father choice. I'm pro-death penalty. Only thing in regards to jihadist is when people paint all of a faith with that brush.

Which technically is the exact opposite of blaming it on their environment, because he thinks they're individually accountable.

I guess I'm just totally wrong here. Abortion, as a choice, is personally responsible. Giving government the right to decide who lives and who dies is also personally responsible. As for the fabled "jihadist brush" you condemn every time someone doesn't use it (which is every time)... well... I guess that's holding the jihadist personally responsible.
Thanks for correcting my error, guys!
Back to the topic: I don't think we will ever be free from people who want to outlaw video games, or at least blame them for individual actions.

Abortion, as a choice, is personally responsible. For my own personal view point on it, yes.
Giving government the right to decide who lives and who dies is also personally responsible. You kill someone, and it's not in self-defense/defense of your family, then yes, I do believe you give up your own right to live.

Because it's easier to blame 'insert media here' then actually admit there may have been something wrong with the person.

Why certain media are always to blame, while others are not?
I really don't know; there's a lot more country songs about shooting things then heavy metal heh.

Why haven't you pointed out that
not all Norwegian people are killers
, when all the people in this board have been saying they are?

The worst offender would probably be the history classes. You know all the wars, revolutions can drive someone insane....
Heh, right.

Texas judge uses
public humiliation
, and orders criminal to keep picture of victim hanging in his living room.
Can't say I agree with that.

I like that; hopefully will make others think twice about drinking and driving.

I really feel strongly toward permanant exile as a regularly used punishment, with a small government conservative government, minimal regulations, and utopian capitalism, strong in import penalties, with export incentives. People like this judge, I don't think they see the big picture, as in, the role of government in individual lives vs society as a whole.

What are you referring to? The judge's decision?
