Alright, I know with Seal of Command, you are looking for a Slow weapon, like 3.5 and higher. With 3.2 coming, as a ret paladin, am I still looking for a slow weapon for SoV? Or does it matter.

in terms of seal damage, neither seal will care about weapon speed at all in 3.2The slower weapon speed is more for Divine Storm and crusader strike. Those two work on weapon damage.Oh, right. I was thinking about prot (and forgetting about instant attacks)... don't ask me why >_<

Slower = better

Actually, its for the seal. CS and DS will proc more seal hits, which are not normalized like CS and DS

What nazeka said.
CS and DS calculate their damage like this:
(Weapon damage range + (AP/14 * 3.3))*1.1
So while you do get a bit bigger hits out of slow weapons, most of the actual damage you do with them comes from AP, which is always multiplied by 3.3 with 2h weapons, regardless of weapon speed.

I don't understand when you say CS and DS will proc more seal hits. CS and DS have cooldowns that don't change at all, no matter what seal or what weapon you're using. How do spells that have a limited amount of uses in a certain time frame change how often something procs if you use it exactly the same amount of times every time? Is it that a slower weapon actually increases the dps of SoB/SoM and SoC too?
Not trying to be a smart arse, just don't understand what you meant.

I may be corrected here (im no theorycrafter) but i believe the speed affects the gains from attack power too. 14AP=1dps (i think) for all weapons, regardless of speed. So for a 3.8 speed weapon that would add 3.8 weapon damage, whereas for a 3.3 speed weapon it would only add 3.3 weapon damage. So slower weapons scale better with increased attack power.
Per hit they scale better yes. But you still gain the same increase in DPS.
The reason for wanting a slower weapon is as Vanstorm suggested, higher top end damage.
Alot of abilities use min and max weapon damage for calculating damage done.
Even though the gain from AP is normalised, if you have a weapon with 1000 max damage it's going to do more damage than a weapon with 750 max damage. Regardless of weapon speed.

Just be careful though. As MischeivousLoki pointed out earlier, that applies to seals, not CS and DS. CS and DS scale using a 3.3sec speed.
Although I don't know what happens when you use a one-hander.

I almost groaned when I read this. Check out the BoH vs Ironsoul thread if you want a dissertation on why it's dangerous to make this sort of statement :)

Also normalized, just to a different weapon speed. I *think* its 1.9
*think* is the key word, I'm not sure exactly

Depends on what type of one hander you're using.
3.3 for two-handed weapons
2.4 for other one-handed weapons
1.7 for daggers
If i'm not completely mistaken.
