My imp rarely dies while raiding. Fel Synergy helps keep him topped off plus I try and keep him next to me at all times. I have a macro that acts like a pet yo-yo: One press will send him in to attack, the other calls him off and tells him to follow. Once you get the hang of that, he rarely dies, and you even get him sharing in on the buffs (glyphs in IC, etc).
As for glyphs when raiding, use Immolate - hands down. It directly contributes to your Conflag damage.

Sorry, meant to put Incin vs Imp glyph on the last slot, I know I plan to keep Immo/Conflag, fixed the link
Just thought that most Ulduar fights won't let me stay still much so I won't get as many Incin off, while the Imp most likely can sit more safely and blast away on its own(a lot of bad stuffs in Ulduar doesn't affect pet, or the AoE ones get reduced by the pet passive)
I still vote Incin. Ideally you'll want to be pulling your imp along with you in some of those fights (and will have to in order to keep him alive, even with his AoE protection) and Incinerate will still be your filler spell so you want it to hit as hard. I'd recommend getting Tuskarr's vitality enchanted on your boots if you don't have it already - since movement is a concern it will help you get there faster.

The only time my imp dies is when I'm doing Obsidian Sanctum...
I forget to get him the hell out of the way of the fire walls and he eats it.
Edit: Because spelling is hard

Your imp will only die if you decide to leave it in an AOE effect. Otherwise, fel synergy is adequate to heal it.
