Jon Snow's cool too. And somehow I forgot about Littlefinger, he's easily my favorite non-POV character. Besides Sandor, maybe. I mainly like Davos because he reminds me of a somewhat more savvy version of Eddard.
I agree about Bran's subplot, it's kinda annoying. I really just don't like the character of Jojen at all. I am interested to see it expanded, though, if only because I'm rather interested in this Coldhands gentleman. My theory? *POTENTIAL SPOILER...I guess* It's Benjen Stark, somehow retaining his humanity after being turned into an Other.

True that. Eddard was one of my favorite characters. He wasn't perfect, but he wasn't quite afflicted with
CBD
like everyone else.

Another troper <3 I really can't wait for A Dance With Dragons. I mainly want to see what's up with Tyrion, why Jon Snow's suddenly an ass, if Davos really got executed (seems pretty obvious he wasn't, lol) and as I mentioned, who the hell Coldhands is. The only parts I'm not looking forward to are slogging through non-Coldhands related Bran plot and Theon (who I honestly just hate so, so very much).

I'm just hoping what's-her-name who worked for Jaime wasn't killed, and hopefully if the author adds Tyrion back in. Word of God says that he's on an island iirc (in the Free Cities).
who the hell Coldhands is.
Name doesn't ring a bell =P It's been awhile since I've gone through them though.
why Jon Snow's suddenly an ass
I forgot what he did badly. He wasn't really in
A Feast For Crows
was he?
Theon (who I honestly just hate so, so very much).
Nobody liked Theon. He was just... meh. Same with his sister.

He was some kind of mysterious, may-or-may-not-be-an-Other guy who helped Sam to the Wall, and is now helping Bran and his posse to get North. I wouldn't be surprised if he's an Other yet, cause George R.R. Martin doesn't do "unambiguously evil" characters/factions, and so far the Others haven't gotten "The Treatment (TM)".

Just the first few Sam chapters. Apparently the whole leadership thing made him very distant and cold, though, and he's done some regrettable things without telling anyone (switching Mance and that other wildling chick's babies, mainly).

Knowing Jon, he's doing it for the "greater good".

I feel like Jon's going to become a slightly harsher version of Eddard by the end of the series. Hell, he practically is already.
Here's just the three things that I really want to have happen at some point in the series:
1. Sandor Clegane isn't dead after all. Seems pretty likely, but just in case.
2. On the flipside, Gregor Clegane is either a) dead forever or b) only comes back to suffer an epic karmic death at Sandor's hands. It seems unlikely that he can come back, sure, but I feel like his death was too...ambiguous. Basically, in A Song of Ice and Fire, the only person who I don't think will ever possibly return from the dead is Eddard Stark.
3. That Jon gets to personally kill the Boltons. Just because.

I'm pretty sure he's still alive. Nobody actually saw him die iirc.
2. On the flipside, Gregor Clegane is either a) dead forever
I assume he is. His main point seemed to be to resolve that particular storyline. There wouldn't be a purpose bringing him back.
3. That Jon gets to personally kill the Boltons. Just because.
Agreed.

RIP Brian Jacques :'(
Very saddened to hear about this. Thank you for letting us know, Hypserspacerebel.
It sounds like this is the thread for me! My name is Justin and I've been working in public libraries for the past ten years. I tend to read a lot and have just recently started exploring the multitude of WarCraft books available out there. I'm currently reading
War of the Ancients Archive
by Richard A. Knaak and it's not too bad so far.

My mom got a Nook (an alternate-company Kindle equivalent, for anyone unfamiliar). Once she's done reading her book on it, I'm gonna get something. Any suggestions? I was gonna read the
Dark Tower
books on it, but my friend said I could just borrow them from him for free, so now I'm at a loss.
