Never really got into the vampire thing until lately.
Which reminds me, need good vampire books. Any suggestions?

I will murder you.
Jk. I'm not into romance books. I'm looking for something more along the lines of
Matthias Thulmann: Witch Hunter
or
Hellsing
.

In other words, something that doesn't try to make vampires look like humans with interesting dietary habits? :P

A few hours of reading have confirmed a conclusion I had already drawn; The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy is brilliant. Nothing less.

I prefer my vampires with absolutely no humanity. None, whatsoever. Jim Butcher can make them likable that way, other authors should too.
Speaking of which: until Ghost Story.

I think he means things that make humans, humans. Empathy, compassion, love, kindness, etc.
Dresdenverse vampires have none of those things. Except Thomas, but he's half human too, kind of. He's also related to Harry, and is very much not the norm, even for White Court vampires

All animals live in societies.

30 Days of Night Vamps are not civilized...by any stretch of the imagination. Neither are the non-Alucard/Ceres vampires of Hellsing.

Take good care of that book, it's a piece of art ^^
I'm reading the
Darren Shan
-series. They're decent, to be quite fair. Anything that doesn't make vampires look like overdramatic teenagers with some slightly odd food preferences

Furies of Calderon is pretty good. Especially since he doesn't bog down the plot with superfluous information, like explicitly explaining what furies are.

It gets better as it goes on, as all Jim Butcher series do. The Canim are my favorite.
