Very low fps in 25man combat

I'm playing on a laptop with a decent gaming video card, getting around 25-35 fps anywhere in Northrend (bar Dalaran ofc). I have no problems in dungeons or normal raids.
Fps in heroic raids is fine up to the point when the raid enters combat. At that point my fps goes down to <5 and stays that way until the combat ends. As soon as combat is over, fps comes back to normal. Turning down graphics doesn't seem to cure the problem.
I'm using mods like Recount, Omen, Grid, Pitbull, Bartender 4, etc. Everything is updated via Curse.
After doing some googling i suspect might be a soundcard issue, but I'd like to hear what the community has to say about this problem before i go into 25man Ulduar with no sounds ;)

Hmm. I'd suggest turning down spell detail and seeing what happens. Spell detail does take up a fair chunk of GPU power at times, especially during, when spells are going all over the place.
It could also be a sound card issue. You can try setting your sound to low quality and see if there's any improvement.
And, as always, make sure your drivers are up to date. :) Good luck.

As i said, turning graphics to minimun doesn't help the problem at all. Something else is gimping the game atm. All my drivers are updated too.
As I can't really gather a 25man raid just to test my comp problem, any suggestions here are appriciated.

I've already mentioned it in a similar thread but doing the following helped me immensely, much more so than faffing about with graphics settings...
escape->sound&voice options-> locate "death knight voice effect"->disable it.
hope it helps you as much as it did me :)
Wow, this was a definite improvement. Yesterday in OS25 I was at around 10 fps, instead of 5 fps, which is almost playable. There still is a big drop whenever I enter combat, and I suspect it's a sound issue with all the casting sound played at the same time. Need to look into it more.
Thanks a lot for this advice.
