I'm trying to come up with a script that will change my aspect when i activate according to my mana level at the time. Here is what i came up with:
/script if (UnitMana("player")<1000) then CastSpellByName("Aspect of the Viper"); else CastSpellByName("Aspect of the Dragonhawk"); end
As most of you probably know the castspellbyname function is protected. Is there a way to activate an actionbar button or maybe use a macro inside the script?
Thanks in advance.

I know macros can't do something based on your hp or mana level. I would assume this holds true for scripts such as this as well.

Game cant do stuff (either via macro or script) based on hp/mana/energy/rage/buff/debuff.
Also know as: Game cant play for you the damn game.

Wouldn't you have to click it to make it change aspects? I know you wouldn't be spamming it, meaning you have to be paying attention to your mana anyways so you could just click AotV

Actually the mana check does work, try it out yourself. It's the aspect change that i'm having problems with.
This is in the front of an attack macro which does several other things all with one click. The idea was just to be sure the correct aspect is on when attacking.
I won't comment on the "game can't play for you"......
So i'm guessing you can't call another macro up in a script or have it use an actionbar button either?

Learn to play my class is the lamest repsone i've gotten. I know how to play my class that's not the issue.

Why is it that a simple question turns into stupid replies filled with dumb answers like "learn to play your class" or "Game cant play for you the damn game"?

I'd suggest
Viper Notify
and the following macro:
/castsequence Aspect of the Hawk,Aspect of the Viper.

Here's the one I use:
#showtooltip
/cast Roar of Recovery
/castsequence reset=combat Aspect of the Hawk, Aspect of the monkey,Aspect of the ViperSo I start with AOTH, switch to AOTM when the mob runs up and starts hitting me, hold down alt when my mana gets low for ROR, and then to AOTV when my mana gets low.
And I don't bother with any addons, I just glance at my mana bar occasionally.
(Edit: Actually it's more like this:#showtooltip
/castsequence aspect of the hawk, aspect of the monkey,Aspect of the viper;Aspect of the Pack,Aspect of the Cheetah; Roar of Recovery;Call of the Wild
