Quick question on training professions

I created a DK alt specifically to learn engineering for some fun (and I want to make the hog!). Just to check, I can learn up to 450 at level 60, but want to check a level 60 toon can make an item that requires level 80 to use? Silly question and hopefully you can, but wanted to check before I spend too much leveling engineering. I'll also be buying schematics from my main and mailing them over, this is ok too isn't it?
I know some things require engineering and a certain level to actually use, but I can still make them can't I? I'll probably level the DK eventually.

Great, thanks for the confirmation. Once I've levelled my main, I'll get the DK up a bit to make use of some of the items, but it's going to be great fun :)
well, some fun anyway!

Hmmm, thanks for that, I never thought about rep and was hoping the parts weren't BoP. Will prob leave for now and level the DK eventually.
Not as easy as I was hoping for a couple of extra professions!

Gathering professions can go to 450 at level 60, crafting professions can't go to 450 until level 65- just did this on my war with Inscription.

Trouble with gathering professions is that, well, you have to gather! I have mining on my main maxed out already. Was wanting to play with toys!
It can wait, no rush is there.

I find I end up with crafting professions on lower alts, and gathering profs on higher ones because, well, I can gather faster and more easily with an 80 than a 65, but it doesn't usually matter as much for crafting.

Thinking out loud,
My main is mining and enchanting. A large source of income for me is disenchanting. How about dropping enchanting on my main and picking it up on my DK and also making the DK my bank alt instead of my current bank alt (level 5 toon, no skills) Then I could pick up engineering on my main which really is where I want it.
Leveling to 390 again on the DK.......could be costly.
Only downside is that I couldn't disenchant soulbound items from my main I suppose but it's not that big a deal.
Does that sound like a good idea?

I'd talked myself out of it anyway, but thanks Dadmc, it really is a bad idea! I don't necessarily want a high level bank alt, I just want someone that could train to max engineering without having to grind up from level 1 again, the DK was the obvious choice for this.
I'm going to wait anyway now, I don't think it's realistic at the moment and I should concentrate on my main character at the moment. Perhaps I'll drop the mining one day. I have that maxed out at the moment, it's quite boring tbh. Good for money, but boring!
Thanks for the replies guys, it's helped a lot.

Right!
Rather than start another topic for my professions, I thought I'd post my latest thinkings here.
So, I'm bored with mining. I'm maxed out and gathering lots of nice saronite ore, but not that much titanium and I can't be bothered spending hours each day flying to SB to get the ores in the hope that I'll find 2 titanium ores at best each time. There's a lot of competition flying around, and I'm sure titanium has become even rarer since the patch (hackers?).
Regardless, I'm bored gathering. It's not that much fun and takes time away from levelling which I should really finish off (78.5 now!)
I'm a Warlock with Enchanting so was thinking about dropping mining for Tailoring or Jewelcrafting, but more leaning towards Tailoring which I think I'll enjoy.
One last mining run to gather up as much as I can before dropping it and powerlevelling Tailoring I think.
Thanks for listening!
