Good to see I'm not the only one who's thought of this. I BG PvP mostly, can't stand druids in arenas, and I mostly have x/100 wins to complete my battlemaster achievement (pending a "Defense of The Ancients" achievement fix).
And after doing almost every permutation of spec that contained both incanters absoprtion and ice barrier heres what I found.
1.) You don't have the talents to make the arcane spell your main nuke. The arcane tree relies on Arcane Barrage, MIssile Barrage and Arcane Empowerment to run. If you are not picking up those you're better of trying to max out your shatter combos, which leads me to point two
2.) Arcane Impact adds 6% damage to your non frostbolt ice nukes, ice lance and cone of cold. That's a huge boost some frost PvP specs dont get (choosing to max Magic Absorption and Arcane Concentration).
3.) The corner stones of your build, incanters absorption and ice barrier, are defensive talents. I suggest you run with that as much as possible. Picking up Improved Blink, Frost Warding and artic winds (you can get 4/5 if you drop cold as ice and shatter barrier, more on why this isn't as important later).
4.) Frost Warding: when you negate the damage with frost ward and fire ward, the damage is actually absorbed. This is a little known fact that directly feeds into incanters absorption. Assuming you take in a 7k Lava Burst. That will get you to your max absorption (for 20k health, +1k spell damage) instantly.
5.) Empowered Frostbolt is a must as it directly feeds off your spell damage, which is what this build has going for it. Even if you take 2/3 incanters absorption it's worth it.
The end of the story though is sad. With this build I was very VERY tanky and could live through more than I do now as an affiix-build pvp frost. I would go in, mana shield to build incanters absorption, ice barrier (which scales a lot better with spell power than mana shield) and proceed to cone of cold and ice lance my way through most of the fights till I needed a shatter combo to finish.
But you cannot take this build as a DPS/Healer combo. My wife and I tried it and it fails miserably. You need deep freeze and the elemental for that extended lockout on druids, rogues and basically anybody else that gets up in your face. Without slow or deep freeze you lack snaring capability if someone gets away from you.
My two cents :)
