Okay well i have this down pretty good with my pally now, i pass agi based stuff to rogues/druids/hunters and expect them to pass on my Str gear etc.... pass ArP to wars/dk's and have them pass non arp gear my way etc.
Anyway, to the point... as a priest what am i "entitled" to in a raid environment, which stuff will i get a prio on, and which is good of me to pass to others (dont wanna be sticky fingered and grab everything which comes my way)
I ask partly because of this example; Uld 25 FL pug i participated in dropped these 2 items;
-
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45113
-
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45117
Now there were a few mages and locks in the raid but i was the only priest...
Seems every caster rolled on both items, now as a holy priest i'm not going to consider + hit items... does that mean that i should expect offensive casters to pass non-hit gear? or is it all fair game as far as that's concerned?
Would just like some clarification on this so i dont get into arguments over loot with people (possible the most irritating part of wow what with people being so loot-centric these days i wanna get my facts straight)
On a side note, got
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45292
as the only "healer" class in the group... already have
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46081
and
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42988
shall i just keep the siphon in bags for when i go disi or pvp or something? or is it worth wearing.
For referance i dinged about 2 hours ago so the rest of my gear is in a pretty shocking state.
Any responses would be great :)

First off, if you just dinged 80 2 hours ago and got into an Uld25 pug, i'm insanely jealous.
The general rule i find is that caster dps don't roll on mp5 items, while healers don't roll on +hit. Everything else, sadly, is fair game. Caster gear is so homogenized nowadays that in pugs you'll always be fighting dps for loot.

As for the trinket, if it were me, I would hold onto it just in case I really want to go "off balance" with my disc and still have enough mp5 to survive...not to mention the thread about "what if there is no replenish"

Well with my main i've got the 25 man achi which is pretty much the only req. :)
Thanks for the input to that, guess it'll just be the luck of the dice then :)
Oh and one more thing, as holy priest i thought i was to "stay clear", as in not aim for, Mp5 gear but shoot for Spirit/Spell power>haste>crit>int... does thsi mean playing a holy priest is kind of a short straw?

hehehe, no, but rather that most of us are turning into paladins and trying to hide from the mp5 that blizzard wants to cake us in :)

You'll have no problem finding spirit gear in Ulduar, it's everywhere, and it is what holy priests want for the spell power gain as well as the mp5. One of your trinkets will most likely be mp5, though.
Spark of Hope
is the only spirit trinket in Ulduar that I'm aware of.
For the other slot, shoot for
Sif's Remembrance
,
Show of Faith
, or
Meteorite Crystal
. As far as I'm aware, these are still considered BiS for holy, but I could be wrong on that.

Righty ho, will bear them in mind but they will probably be at least weeks off as i've only just got instance gear (75-80), a few pvp bits and bobs aswell as the DM card... gotta Naxx up before i think about Ulduar :)
Also when is a good time to use Divine Hymn? just got it at 80 and it looks to me an awesome "tranquility-like" heal, that of a druid. Guess its best to use in conjuction with Inner Focus as it costs an absolute bomb. Is it the priests "O'crap" AoE button? or does it have a more general useage?

It does suck, as priests (disc/holy) we have to roll against mages, locks, and spriests. The problem with mp5 itemization is that disc enjoys it, but holy prefers spirit.
And how the heck did you get into a 25 Ulduar pug 2 hours after your ding without spending 10-20kg on gear? I could
possibly
understand a guild run, but a pug? Grats...the badges alone would have made the run worth it for you.

Use Divine Hymn with
Inner Focus
during things like XT's Temper Tantrum or Gluth's zombie phase. It's unreliable as an Oh %^&* button when nobody but the tank is close to dying, but if it's massive Raid damage there's no better backup-instant-raidhealing button C: I even use on my Disc. Priest quite a bit during predictable damage phases, and it's always fun watching the entire raid jump out of the red back into the green.

Don't only use it with Inner Focus, but after a haste proc from BT (disc) or a fully stacked Serendipity (holy). The spell is a huge nuke for AoE healing, but it can be fairly slow.

Right, thanks for the feedback on Divine Hymn, will try to plan ahead and use it :)
As for the Ulduar pug, it was only a Flame Kill, so gear isnt really a req. with 0 towers up Ilevel isnt so important. And i have the achi on my main so RL was happy :)
Oh, and as a shadow priest, to use the group mana regen spell i have to break form, i get its useful for reggenning the mana of other casters, but is it worth doing for the loss in dps it causes ? ty in advance :)

Beat me over the head with a stick if I'm wrong on this, but as Shadow you're already contributing a Replenishment to the Raid so you shouldn't have to use the Hymn every time it's up. Save the Hymn of Hope for when you notice the healers (or yourself) are in a tight spot. If you do end up using it, couple it with the Shadowfiend for optimal personal regen (since your mana pool will be slightly larger shortly after the HoH, and the Shadowfiend regen is based on a percentage of total mana, thus becoming more efficient overall).

If your using Hymn as a spriest, it better be because the raid leader told you to. There are so many options for regenerating mana, things will have gone seriously wrong if you have to Hymn it up. As a spriest, if you are the one needing the mana (meaning both your fiend and Dispersion are on CD) you really need to reprioritize your gear.
Dispersion
for mana
is an absolute last resort and not something that should be used often...going beyond that is completely unacceptable imo. Dispersion however, is a very vital tool simply for the 90% reduced damage.
Like I said earlier, however, because I can understand its use in very specific circumstances, I would honor the raid leader's request if asked to use it.
I will admit that I never raid Ulduar as shadow, so I don't know how the longer fights are affected, but I can't see it as any big deal.

Aweosme idea for fiend with the bigger mana pool, will help loads :)
Umm, well basically the one with mana problems was me running the 3 or 4 raids i did today as dps using my pvp shadow spec (which lacks beditation + mana reducing shadow one). Since then i've done dual shadow spec so i can pvp and pve well. Safe to say mana problems outta the way, and will now use hymn for when healers are low...
On a slightly different note, just got this from an Uld 10 Flame only kill;
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45289
- stuck a crit based meta in it alongside a purple spl dmg/spirit gem
Loaded with lovely stats seeings i'm still under that soft haste cap for getting 2 MF's inbetween my MB's and has a meta etc. Thing is... the amount of spirit on it had me thinking is was more healer orientated... its an upgrade over my hateful helm in terms of pve dps so i'm gonna use it anyway, but should i be "avoiding" or rather, not aiming for spirit in my gear? thinking of it eating up item points or what-have-you.
Thanks in advance :) (and sorry for bumping)
