Some great advice on the "Rogue vs Mage" thread, hoping for something similar here.
So i know its not as technical and CD effectient due to the class differences, but as a discipline preist, how do you go about beating a rogue?
Predicting a blind and getting a SW:D off is truly awesome, but incredibly hard to pull off. This being the case i tend to eat a whole blind if my trinket is on CD. GIves them enough time to reset etc.
Having an MS effect on you and having to bait rogue with flash and hoping he bites so you can get a whole penance (with Mindnumbing on) is about as far as my "tricks" go, alongside Nova to break stealth after a vanish or Mass Dispell i really cant think of much more. Pain sup if you see a Cheap> Kidney coming and scream to force CloS/Wotf. Thing is i can never seem to last until i can get off that blessed 3rd scream. DoTs on at all times, preferably staggered so they both cant run out at the same time.
Any tips on how to beat a rogue when he gets the jump on (which invariably happens) would be great! - or is this kinda that scenario where you need a partner(s) to peel for you?

Well, if the levels of gear are similar, you should:
Always keep up your main buffs. He cannot dispel, use it to your advantage. Renew up, Prayer of Mending on cooldown, PW:Shield on cooldown. always. This preventive ones you should cast even if full on HP.
Using Penance to fake cast is another interesting trick they may not expect. Let the first tick go, that interrupt your cast; he might eat it and kick. You'll be free to Flash Heal then.
DoTs constantly up, of course.
NEVER LET INNER FIRE DROP. NEVER EVER. If inner fire drops you'll be taking an absurdly bigger amount of damage. You will not get many dead times to recast it, but make it one of your #1 priorities.
You might as well trick them with Mind Control. They are dotted, you are HoTed, and if MC hits they will be damaged and outranged while you're healed and your cooldowns refresh. If they kick it, heal at leisure, or cast Holy offensive spells (read - Holy Fire).
The use of Power Infusion and Inner Focus should also be helpful, but on equal gear levels you won't depend on either for survival.
Desperate prayer for, well... desperate situations :)
