When 4.0 comes out there will be a large change in gear. +Spell power, +Mana Per 5 and +Attack Power being removed. This is an estimate at how the items will be changed.
Spell Power from intThe first change is that intellect will now increase your spell power. With 4.0 this will most likely mean that there will be little or no change to the int on our gear at the moment and that 1 int will equal 1.5 spell power.
Example:
Gown of BlaumeuxCurrent Stats:
+90 Stamina
+68 Intellect
Equip: Improves hit rating by 45
Equip: Improves haste rating by 59
Equip: Increases spell power by 105
WoW 4.0 Stats:
+90 Stamina
+70 Intellect
Equip: Improves hit rating by 45
Equip: Improves haste rating by 59
(+2 int to balance it with spell power)
Mana regen from spiritHealer Gear with spiritIn 4.0 all healers will be given a mana regeneration talent similar to
Meditation. This means that all items with MP5 will become items with spirit (items without mp5 will most likely not change). Since Mana Regen from spirit is also based on Intellect this is taken as a priest with approx. 1100 intellect.
At this point 58 spirit =17 mp5, this is approx 1 mp5 per 3.4 spirit. Because of this it seems it will be changed to 1mp5 = 3.3 - 3.5 spirit.
Example:
Cowl of Innocent DelightCurrent Stats:
+108 Stamina
+77 Intellect
+58 Spirit
Equip: Increases spell power by 118.
Equip: Restores 25 mana per 5 sec.
WoW 4.0 Stats:
+108 Stamina
+79 Intellect
+143 Spirit
(+2 int to balance with Spell power, + 85 spirit from mana per 5)
DPS Gear with spiritDue to DPS classes not needing spirit anymore the spirit on their gear will most likely be converted to intellect. This will likely change it to be equal to the bonus given by warlocks
Fel Armor which means 5 spirit = 1 int
Example:
Combustion BracersCurrent Stats:
+54 Stamina
+41 Intellect
+44 Spirit
Equip: Improves hit rating by 32
Equip: Increases spell power by 70
WoW 4.0 Stats:
+54 Stamina
+51 Intellect
Equip: Improves hit rating by 32
(+9 int from spirit, +1 int from spell power balancing)
*new*
Neutral Gear with SpiritNeutral gear with spirit (no mp5, no hit) will most likely not remove the spirit but will increase the intellect to give more spell power to the dps classes at a rate of 5 spirit = 1 int
Example:
Agonal SashCurrent Stats:
+49 Stamina
+52 Intellect
+48 Spirit
Equip: Improves haste rating by 38
Equip: Increases spell power by 76
WoW 4.0 Stats:
+49 Stamina
+62 Intellect
+48 Spirit
Equip: Improves haste rating by 38
(+10 int from spirit, +0 int from spell power balancing)
*Newer*
Attack power removedPlate Wearer (Str)With plate wearers getting 2 AP per 1 Str the AP will simply be replaced by str on lower lvl gear. There is currently no gear at lvl 80 with str and ap on it.
Example:
Shovelphlange's Mining AxeCurrent Stats:
+6 Strength
Equip: Increases attack power by 10.
WoW 4.0 Stats:
+11 Strength
(+5 str from ap)
More to come...

What about weapons? Like this
Legendary Mace? 57 x 1.5 =/= 621, of course, so how will SP on weapons be handled? I'm guessing they'll just have a huge INT buff.
Either that, or it'll be like the BC->WOTLK transition, where we'll have less +healing, but healing spells will gain more benefit from +healing.
I apologize for keeping the necro'd thread up, but what was the source for "1 int will equal 1.5 spellpower"?
He said Estimate. Nowhere did he say that this was official.
