Hello =)
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Drak%27Tharon&n=Naughty
My question is... by looking at my unbuffed stats above in my armory link, should i replace my +STR gems with +ArP gems ?
also, should i replace my Grimm toll with Pyrite Infuser ?
Thanks in advance.
PS: the trolls in here, i'm in no way trying to SHOW-OFF my DK.. i really need some advice with both questions above, so please, keep your useless comments to yourself.
Thanks =)

In order to make ArP more beneficial you need 6200 AP.
That's that.
Blood spec maybe a bit lower, around 5700-6000, but you have to have alot.
I calculate that with all raid buffs your AP will be around 6300 (Abom's might procs included), Kings, Might, and MotW. With Greatness procs as well, I would suggest keeping Grim Toll.
If you can replace str gems without dropping below around 5700 AP buffed, you should replace Str gems with Arp gems.
Hope thats helpful.

Um...
I'm pretty sure for blood the buffed AP when ArP becomes better is lower, but I can't find the link.
It said gem for ArP after 4500 AP unbuffed, which isn't all that far off 6200 AP raidbuffed.
Also, go with Grim toll.
I was going to answer sooner, but was thrown off when the second question was still phrased as
"replace my with ?". Figured I'd wait till you edited and browse on.

Please show the evidence about this 6.2k. I've seen this number frequently, but yet nothing to back it up.
D3cadance:
1 Strength = 0.76
1 Armor Penetration = 0.66
1 Expertise Rating = 0.60
1 CritRating = 0.54
1 Agility = 0.35
1 Ap = 0.31
1 Haste Rating = 0.29
1 Hit Rating = 0.24
1 Armor = 0.01
That's your numbers unbuffed, found with your gear/spec/etc.
1 Strength = 1.17
1 ArmorPenetration = 1.08
1 ExpertiseRating = 1.01
1 CritRating = 0.80
1 Agility = 0.56
1 Ap = 0.44
1 HitRating = 0.21
1 HasteRating = 0.48
1 Armor = 0.01
That's your numbers buffed with every buff there is, agian with your gear/spec/etc.
Numbers taken with my spreadsheet. Use them as you want.
Armor Penetration is at it's peak at 420 with Blood spec and a armor pen proc trinket like Grim toll, putting you at 100% armor pen when it procs
443 ArP with Mjolnir, and 495 with Grim Toll

so.. i have a similar question...
at what point should one start gemming for arpen?
from wat i heard its.. if u have over 6k AP buffed, and over 350 arpen? then arpen>str..
i havent seen math to support that... anyone have any?

If my Rawr is correct, then you should never gem for ArP ever. (Assuming you have a ArP trinket)
294 ArP and 6.683ap, STR is a better stat then ArP.
450 ArP and 6908ap, ArP becomes closer to being better then STR.
1017ArP and 7852ap, ArP becomes a better stat then STR.
1017ArP and 6.8kap, ArP still is a better stat then STR.
6151ap, 602ArP - ArP is better then STR
6148ap, 452ArP - STR is better then ArP
As written above, the "soft caps" for ArP with either ArP trinkets is either 443 or 495. If you decide to get 90% ArP without trinkets, you need 1120 ArP rating, then gemming for ArP should happen around the 500~ mark.
The thing with ArP is it's a complicated stat and these numbers here is with Worldcarver., if i were to example use BiS weapon, the ArP numbers would actually be lower (At least that's what Rawr says)-
Best way to know when to gem for ArP or not, is simple to check with a spreadsheet/Simulator. ArP is a complicated stat, so to gem for it or not, has a lot of factors.
If you could log out in your DPS gear, i could give you the numbers as I've given them to D3cadance.

As said, it all depends on more factors then just AP and ArP.
Gimme your dps gear on armory and I'll give you the numbers ;)

Notice that you're Frost DW and not Blood specced, and with a 2H weapon. Making these numbers not that reliable..
Agility = 0.47
Armor Penetration = 0.92
Ap = 0.46
CritR ating = 0.61
Expertise Rating = 1.16
Haste Rating = 0.60
Strength = 1.14
If i put you in a blood spec, it looks like this:
Agility = 0.55
Armor = 0.01
Armor Penetration = 1.21
Ap = 0.47
Crit Rating = 0.76
Expertise Rating = 1.02
Haste Rating = 0.53
Hit Rating = 0.31
Strength = 1.25
Sorry for no order, but in a hurry... Numbers are raid buffed.

What about me? Should I gem for ArP?
Post by
frmorrison
Most DKs should keep gemming Strength, since as you get more strength, the ArP you have gets better. However, if you have one of the ArP proc trinkets, you could gem ArP to reach the hard cap on ArP (with the Uld-10 it is 440 ArP).
